With all the great minds on here and theie knowledge of QB problems and that we are slowly getting better and with Peterman for sure not the answer and Worley not looking like the answer should Butch pick one of the true freshman and let him get game experience and have ready for the next 3 yrs.

Not yet. If the freshmen is hurt, he wont be able to get any experience. Too big of a risk IMO.

No one except the coaches know how prepared both mentally and physically Dobbs and Ferg are. If they're not ready, they're just not ready. I'll trust the coaches on this call...

Butch knows more about the freshmen then the posters here ever will. The grass is not always greener outside the frying pan...or something like that...

We are not competing for a championship or a top tier bowl, so I say yes. Lets get this figured out this year so that we go into next year with a leader at QB. It will also help recruiting showing in year 1 Butch plays freshman.

Yes they need to get some game experience this week no question. Worley is one hit away from CBJ not having a choice. Better to have them a ready as possible.

One of the freshmen will need to get some reps because they are one missed block away from being the starter.

one of them will be getting prepared to take over should Worley go down. that may lead to one getting reps this Saturday. depends on how the game goes.

Neither are ready to get snaps at this point. If Worley went down and one had to take over the offense would look worse than last week's first half. Not a good running game and inexperience at WR not a good mix with true freshmen QBs that are not ready to play. Would be really, really ugly..

I do trust the coaches.

But how many times have you seen a back-up QB be forced into a game and he turns out to be THE GUY? No one -- not even the coaches -- knew it, because for some guys the switch never flips on until they are in a real game. I think that's what all of us are hoping for.

It's sort of like buying a lottery ticket and expecting to win. But considering our QB play so far this season, you can't blame fans for hoping. We're desperate for a miracle.

One, if not both will see playing time IMO.

If Worley just losses his helmet, than Ferguson or Dobbs will go in.

If Worley got hurt (Do not want to see ANY Vol get hurt) then it becomes the Ferggy and Dobbs show!

All you guys who want to see them both will get your wish this season, just be careful what you wish for! JMO

My money is on Ferguson seeing the field first, then Dobbs.

I would be shocked if Ferguson didn't get some meaningful 1st team snaps this week. If Worley gets hit against Ga, SC, or Bama, and is out of the game for a while, I don't want a freshman's first snaps against those teams. Let him get his feet wet this week!

Peyton became a starter in the 5th game of his freshman season. The result, a 10-9 victory of Washington State. The Vols only lost one more game that year, to Bama. Peyton was driving the team to the winning touchdown but made the wrong read in the end zone. Remember this if/when the freshmen make a mistake.

Butch in no way should or will play both freshman barring injury. It makes no logical sense. I know if Dobbs is the short straw then to him it feels like he's screwed and no matter what will never see action.

Not the case. U treat it like any other backup there's absolutely no reason to play all 3 QBs.

And guys if Worley sucks, and Peterman sucks, and Fergy sucks, I'm sure Dobbs sucks as well so there's no reason.

I can imagine all of the coaches sitting around the table with Butch at the head discussing this very question. One of the coaches will say, "why don't we go online & see what volnation has to say." Then they all laugh & give each other high fives...
