I hadn't been to the football forum in a while... I checked it today out of curiosity... Wow...I thought we recruiting addicts were negative...we're nothing compared to them. You'd think we lost by 30 points and burned the whole season in a big dumpster fire by the way they're talking. Ridiculous...it's one game...

Depth issues are different with an entire 2nd unit out there over 1 or 2 guys running with the 1's. WE knew it was there, but put them all out there together, it will magnify itself.

On a side note - good thing Kiffin preferred Matt Simms (I think that's who it was) over Tajh Boyd! He only accounted for 5 TD's last night!:crazy::crazy:

You mean the starting QB for the NY Jets?

And no, it wasn't Simms. I don't think he actually got anyone in that first year. He Told Bryce Petty (Baylor) to walk as well.

Wow, is there some bump gold in this thread... TN pulls offer for Bryce Petty

Lol Clemson "mixes it up". So I guess you're under the impression that we will only run the read option 80 plays per game. And that our staff will call absolutely no other plays?

That's what I'm saying. How many times does Butch have to say he molds the offense around the QB for people to let it sink in. He would not have run the read if he didn't think JW could execute it properly which he did but its not going to be all game long. Its a weapon.

Did anybody watch the Kentucky game? Are they that bad or is WKU that good? I'm starting to wonder a little bit.

Kentucky's defense is pretty dang terrible...but WKU has some decent playmakers. Should be a pretty good test for us leading up to Oregon.

Even though we have been down we still have some real talent on our roster. All we needed was a coach to bring out the best in that talent. UK on the other hand has very little talent and it doesn't matter who their coach is.

Since Boyd made an appearance in this thread, here is a fun quote from a 2008 article, after Fulmer resigned:

Four-star quarterback Tajh Boyd of Phoebus (Hampton, Va.), who committed to the Vols this past weekend, said the news was disappointing. But he said he plans to honor his commitment.

"I hate that Coach Fulmer is gone, but I know they will bring in someone that's good," Boyd told Volquest.com. "Coach Fulmer is a good coach. I just hate he won't be there. I'm going to be keeping up with it. I'm anxious to see who they bring in."

Good times.

and then...

Tajh Boyd has de-committed from Tennessee following a conversation about his future with newly hired football coach Lane Kiffin.

A source close to Boyd’s recruitment told the News Sentinel on Wednesday that Boyd pulled back his commitment when Kiffin warned him that he might not be happy with UT’s pro-style offensive system.

“(Kiffin) said he would honor the scholarship if he still wanted to come, but he didn’t want Tajh coming there and then being unhappy,” Tim Boyd told the Daily Press in Newport News, Va. “It’s not like he pulled the offer. He said he wants what’s in Tajh’s best interest.”

and of course, a little GVX comment gold.

A few things I saw last night. I am sure most have already been mentioned multiple times.

No penalties. Discipline is the difference between good and great coaches. See Richt and Saban. One hasn't it one doesn't.

Attention to detail: CBJ was a mad man in warm ups getting after any minor details not followed. Another example of discipline.

Great energy by maggitt and smith. Showed great leadership out of uniform

Worried about QB accuracy and serious drop off in the secondary.

Who was number 13???

Next week we see what a real game plan will look like with this staff!

even though i knew he was down it was fun to see Malik pick up that fumble and get going.

When Curt is back, is brewer the odd man out? I guess it will depend on the package and how much Maggitt can go.

It was nice to see guys actually getting each other in position and settled before the snap last night. That improvement will be tested this saturday though.

Beautiful play call

Almost wish they hadn't shown it in this game.

Pretty standard play...they have a running back option jump pass in their arsenal...used it in the Syracuse game last year :superman::drool::w00t:

It makes a lot of sense, when you think about it. Naturally, being as involved in the Recruiting Forum as we are, we are inclined towards the future. We are optimists. Meanwhile, in the Football Forum, they're immediately concerned with the present and the immediate past (which has not been pleasant obviously). Such concerns naturally suit the more pessimistic.
