The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Haas himself said it. What other evidence do they need?

I don't know. The Nascar radio show here in town was blastin' Tony yesterday because TS has been saying him and Newman were friends and the reason they couldn't keep him was because of sponorship dollars. I have thought since day one that Haas was behind it because why else would he say he would sponor Kurt and not Newman. It had to be because Haas didn't like Newman or felt that Kurt was a better driver or something. If you look at wins, poles, and top ten finishes I don't think Kurt and Newman are very far apart but Kurt has a championship and that carries a lot of weight.

READ THIS IS NOTHING ELSE -> Gene Haas said he made the decision to hire Kurt Busch on his own. Admits Smoke was a bit upset.

So yeah, that won't end well.

I wondered how Tony really felt about Busch driving a 4th car after he said he let Newman go and that he didn't feel comfortable expanding. Busch and Stewart have had several run ins through the years. It'll be interesting to see how they work together.

Hopefully like a house on fire, if only for the DRAMA!

I think people often forget the team is called Stewart-Haas Racing, not Stewart Racing.

I think its a good move. I can see where Tony isn't 100% in on the idea though. Going from 2 to 4 cars in 2 years while babysitting Danica is gonna be tough. Not to mention him and Busch aren't the best of friends. I'm sure he feels like this deal was done behind his back while he was in the hospital. Its alwasys harder when its not your idea.

Harry Scott Jr confirmed the purchase of Phoenix Racing today, Justin Allgaier will drive three races this year for the team. Crazy to think that next year Hendrick will supply the engines for 11 teams next year and the chassis for 8 teams.

Turner-Scott Motorsports started from the ground up with the Truck Series & Nationwide Series and has become the top non cup affiliated team so this could shake up the Nationwide & Truck series next year. If Allgaier moves to the 51 & Larson (as rumored) moves to the 41 in Cup. That would leave open two top seats for TSM in Nationwide, I would bet one would go to Jeb Burton.

One name to keep an eye on for a truck ride if Burton or James Buescher moves up is (18yo) Dylan Kwasniewski who drives as a developmental driver for Turner/Scott in the Nascar K&N East Series. He was the K&N West Champion last year and moved to the K&N East series this year and is the points leader with 4 wins.

UPDATE: Its no longer a rumor!Kyle Larson is moving on up to the Sprint Cup Series in 2014

Bobby Labonte broke some ribs ina bike wreck yesterday. Looks like he will miss the race this weekend.

Personally I think moving Larson up that quickly is a mistake. Reminds me a lot of the JL situation. I hope that doesn't happen to Larson but that's what it reminds me of.

I agree Smokey. He needs one more year for sure. But if they don't move him up now, who's to say another organization doesn't try to steal him away.

That's what I said earlier you know Hendrick was just salivating hoping Larson's contract would be up so he could swoop in a drop him into the 24 in two or three years.

I said earlier look for Jeb Burton to move to a full time Nationwide ride with Larson & possibly Allguire leaving. On Race Hub last night they said that the (47) team is looking at going to a 2 car team and that Jeb Burton or Ryan Blaney could be who they go after to go ahead and lock up one of Nascar's top up and coming drivers and go through the growing pains for 3-5 years down the road.

Wow I would be surprised if Jeff would want to call it quits at 45-46 years old. I could understand it if he wants to do so, but that's on the younger side for a lot of these guys to hang up the gloves.

Dale was 49 when he died and I am sure he would have raced on for a few more seasons.

Chase Elliott is being groomed for the #24.

I think I have heard Jeff say in an interview before that he didn't want to drive forever and that he didn't want to be a guy out there just riding around. So it wouldn't surprise me to see him retire at that age.

I'm aware of that but Elliott is still running ARCA and occasional Truck.

That's why I said if Larson made it to the end of 2014 (when I think his contract with Earnhardt/Ganassi) runs out. You know Hendrick would jump on that and pay all kinds of money. Everyone from drivers to owners say Larson is a can't miss and remember his nickname is "Young Money"

I have said for over a year that the best thing for Trevor to do is get out of that Roush contract.

Unless they can somehow find the sponsorship for a fourth team where does Trevor go over the next two or three years+? I don't see Carl Edwards going anywhere and Biffle has probably been the most overall consistent driver Roush has had the last several years and Stenhouse is just in his rookie year.

I dont understand Ganassi. He is a genius in open wheel racing, but has made some terrible decisions at the cup level. Everybody he has put in a car has been a bust, save McMurray. I dont think their equipment is good enough to call them a top notch team.
