Who Lane? Why can't this brotha get his act together? All that damn talent. Maybe its just a little injury or something.
Sounds more like you didn't know he had really good career numbers and are trying to cover for it.
I can see it from a LB perspective, like how leading the league in tackles doesn't make AJ the best LB, but WRs have 4 repsonsibilities: get open, catch the ball and get yards, or block. Stats reflect how they do those things, probably better than any other position.
Everytime I see a Raijon Neal interview I hit the snooze button. What Runningback in the SEC when interviewed smiles during the entire interview? Six minutes of smiling. Where's Marlin when you need him?
As for his team, the expectation is that Jones will name Justin Worley his starting quarterback on Monday, but the real storyline to watch next week is who gets the bulk of the number two reps. Will it be Nathan Peterman? Will it be Josh Dobbs? Or will it be the guy many kind of forgot about back in the spring and summer in Riley Ferguson. All three have had their moments in fall camp where they performed really well and all three has days and moments were it wasn't so guy. Ferguson's bad days seemed to come earlier in camp and it appears that he plays or practices better in 11 on 11 settings than he does in 1 on 1 or even 7 on 7 work. How Jones manages the reps behind his starting quarterback is going to be really interesting and pretty telling starting next week. Worley got almost the entire first-team reps Thursday, while Peterman did get many of the twos. Beyond that, Thursday was a day where Ferguson got a lot of third-team work while it appeared Dobbs had another one of Jones' maintenance days with little to no throwing.
Rajion Neal seemed to take a major stride toward nailing down the starting tailback spot on Thursday as he garnered almost all the first-team reps. Marlin Lane has been impressive in his return, but Lane still hasn't shown the durability needed. Justus Pickett, after being in line to carve a clear role in the Vols' offense, has become a virtual non-factor simply because UT is awaiting a final word from the NCAA on Pickett's appeal for immediate eligibility. Once highly optimistic, Pickett's lack of work in the offense of late shows that optimism is on hold. Pig Howard and Marquez North appear in line to be two of the Vols' starting wideouts while Jason Croom and Josh Smith are among those in biggest competition for the third spot. Croom's key is consistency and physicality.
"The Titans facilities are nice, Tennessee's facilities are spectacular," Travis said, comparing the complex to the practice facility of the state's NFL franchise.
"The Titans were recently valued by Forbes as a billion-dollar franchise and they have pretty good facilities. You walk in and say `that's a nice training room, that's a nice weight room, everything else associated with it.'
"Tennessee's blows it all out of the water."
Sounds like how I look at players. Taurean Poole ran for 1000 yards here and anybody will tell you I didn't like him one bit. Also DJ Hall quit in more than one game. Also how many games do you remember him dominating?
lol.
A few days ago I saw the rolled up towels under their arms on punt catching drills but this was new. Based on earlier post practice comments it must work because it appears we made a helluva lot more catches today than we normally hear about.
He played very well against us twice that I can think of. I honestly didn't follow Alabama after 2002 and I'm not sure I could remember specific games even if I had. I don't remember specific games where Meachem dominated either but I know he had some.
I don't know if the Poole comment was supposed to be a comparison or just an example of how you evaluate players. Even if Poole's thousand yard season put him top 10 all time in SEC history, he plays another position where stats can be more misleading.
I'm pretty comfortable putting him in the conversation.
Have not seen this posted.. CBJ interview article with 104.5 The Zone and getting Clay Travis to gush like he did speaks volumes..

Great college players don't necessarily get drafted. Casey Clausen is probably the second best QB to ever wear orange but he didn't get drafted.
Also, plenty of guys who weren't great college players do. Bryce Brown?
Bobby Scott?
