'14 TN WR Josh Malone (UT commit 12/4/13)

He even said he doesn't have confirmation on Vandy being the other team, so you know he's just making stuff up.

Malone's recruitment is the most intriguing IMO because the kid plays it so close to
vest. I say he's a Vol but it sounds like he's playing it the right way. He seems like a humble kid that doesn't want a show or anything. Hopefully, he winds up in Orange.

I agree 100%. And wasn't there talk on VQ of Malone being all Vol last year before Dooley was fired? If he was coming to UT with Dooley as HC surely Butch can seal the deal.

Its all going to boil down to does he like our offense. He may prefer a more pro style

Helps that he was at the open practice to see how we do things. Him scheduling an OV right after is huge. Means he saw enough to see himself coming here. Malone has said he is only OVing to schools he is seriously interested in.

Good start on keeping his interest with our offense.

I am stoked some people would rather use his scholly somewhere else I disagree we need him opposite north in a bad way. You will see why when we hit sec play

Barton Simmons' explanation on why he changed his prediction.

"I picked Malone to Georgia all the way back in May but I recently changed that prediction to Florida State. My reason for that was I started to question how much room Georgia had for him and how hard they would be recruiting him consequently.

I also felt that based on who i had talked to and talking to Josh that the visit to Florida State went well, and I had received some indicators that FSU was trending. Well I'm back on the UGA train. I'm now hearing that while FSU is likely to get an official, they aren't likely to be his final destination. And it also sounds like Georgia will have room for him.

I continue to think it's a two-team race as things stand right now. I think Georgia is one of the teams and I had thought FSU was the other but that's no longer my impression. I don't know who the other main contender is. SImply by process of elimination, I think Vandy could be the other team but I haven't gotten any confirmation from anywhere to give me much confidence in that.

Tennessee has definitely made a push of late and could be a team to watch but I still have my doubts that the Vols have gone from out of consideration to top 2."

He hasn't a clue.

Whoever says UT has a shot is all that matters. If someone says the Vols lead, they are without a doubt in the know. If anyone says that Tennessee is not in the mix, they are full of it! :)

And this goes for any recruit who even mentions Tennessee.

Simmons thinks that all 5* players have Candy either first or second on their list even though he has no confirmation from anywhere on that. He also thinks their current recruiting class is better than Tennessee's and that they have the best defense in the country. If you look in the dictionary under idiot it has an 8x10 glossy photo of ole Bart.

Malone hasn't named a leader or even a top group of schools yet, and has not given any indication of committing anywhere anytime soon.

Stop acting like VN is trying to rationalize conflicting info because no one, probably including Malone, knows where he's going. Predictions for Malone, including ones to Tennessee, mean nothing at this point.

Wow. What a true homer. Barton hasn't a clue.

Based on everything from Scout, VQ and 247, I feel safe in saying that Barton Simmons is absolutely and emphatically clueless with regards to Malone. He's changed his Crystal Ball Prediction 3 times already. I think he's playing to the Vandy base to sell more subscriptions. No way Tennessee is that low on Malone's list. Definitely not after the number of visits he's taken to Knoxville. VolRumorMill posted that he's been to Knoxville upwards of 7 times for visits.

I've got a friend that has a connection at Station Camp and the general belief is basicly what you stated. No one is really influencing Malone and no one seems to have a clue where he might go. Malone may have some idea where he wants to go but he seems to be keeping it to himself. About all we as Vol fans can do is hope he chooses us.

I agree that no one really knows and that we have just as good a chance as anyone at this point.

Just for kicks imagine this next year....

A WR rotation of Malone, Lauderdale, North, Kameel Jackson and let's say, oh I don't know... Dominique "freakin" Booth?

I know there are others in the stable, but that's some serious talent and speed just right there... the future is very bright at WRU.

So, being the Vandy247 webmaster, his strategy seems to be anyone but UT. The Vandy247 webmaster needs to grasp that Gaulden and Malone are close, location is a major factor (hence him not landing in Tallahassee), he has been on UOV's to UT for close to a dozen times, and he wants get on the field as soon as possible.

And this is the guy all the non-UT fans are hanging their hat on in regards to Malone? I am suprised that "magic" or "pixie dust" were not used in his explanation.

I'm still trying to figure them out too. I have a piece of paper in front of me to keep track. It's still blank.

The only part of Sumner county I'm not crazy about is Madison. There are quite a few bad areas in that town. Rivergate mall has went downhill as well.

No he doesn't. The Vols were never out of consideration.

It's pretty clear Barton doesn't have the best source in this recruitment. Waffling too much which means he its not a direct link and likely is using Franklin emotional self as source. Hubbs has stayed strong and we all know he is Butch' s voice right now for info

Don't for get Croom, KB. I think he could be something special. A real red zone weapon.

Really hope Croom blossoms and soon. I kinda thought of him as one "in the stable" primarily cause CBJ recently called Croom a work in progress and has a long way to go. He's one of my favorites and I hope the light comes on as soon as possible for him.
