Good to hear. Sounds like you're a pretty reasonable fan and from my standpoint have the right perspective on what you are about to witness on the field this year.

I think with Worley at the helm we can achieve all those goals. He's not going to wow us, but I think he'll be serviceable enough. And if he's not, CBJ won't hesitate to replace him.

Yeah I think you're right. From everything I've read, it sounds like we are going to pound the ball behind our big uglies on the offensive line. Which is probably playing to our strengths. If we do that successfully, then the passing game will be much more manageable for whoever ends up starting.

The more I think about it, the success of the running game will probably end up being much more critical than who ends up playing quarterback.

My expectations of this season isn't really based on our final record. I mean it kinda is, but I just want us to win the games we should win, win some of the games we can win, and keep it close in the games we shouldn't win.

Dooley could never do those last two things. All I want is for us to be better than that.

This is the way I see the staff. Forget the Sunseri fiasco and focus on the Wilcox defensive effort (mostly same guys). We would have had a better year last season, no doubt. So going from that as a base and recognizing the need to rebuild our passing offense I figure this staff is good for +2 wins over Dooley's staff. How much our RB's/OL can lead in offensive production on the ground in order to offset some of what we are unable to replace in the passing game is key, imo.

The X-Factor to me this year is overall team effort. Jones seems relentless in his demands on this team to give maximum effort on every play, and they seem to be buying in.

It will be interesting to see how that translates on the field. We're not going to out-talent many of our SEC foes, but we might be able to out work them. If we do, maybe the ceiling could be higher. Hard to quantify that one, though.

Top 5 goes like this:

1) The entire secondary class
2) Gavin Bryant and the LBs
3) Hurd and Paulk duo
4) Helm
5) TKjr( I know he's included in #1 :) )

Very surprised you don't think either our commits are elite or DL is an area of immediate need.

IMO a DL has to be near the top

Spot on. Personally, I find it refreshing that we have a coaching staff that is committed to running the football again.

You always have to push QB's harder. They are held to a higher standard because of their central role in the offense. I would not be surprised at all if Ferguson and Dobbs are the last to lose their stripes, not due to bad performance, but more as a message of, "you've got a long way to go before you've arrived."

Yeah and it makes a heck of a difference when you have an OLine as respected (ATM) as ours.

To your earlier point, we've gotten so accustomed to our guys folding in the face of adversity that the "here we go again" syndrome is going to be hard for some fans to conquer but with the development of mental toughness, the instilling of confidence, the focus on process instead of final results, all these things added to our wealth of senior leadership and team chemistry I think could really make for a very exciting season.

My top 5:

1. All Jucos period. In order, Lambert, Lauderdale, Weatherd, and Jackson. NEED Blair.

2. Hurd/Paulk

3. Helm/Wolf

4. Every LB we get. Bates, Mouhon, Bryant, and Elliott

5. Medley. Kid may be force to start as a FR. Palardy will be gone. Darr is one step short of useless so we will need him.

1. Hurd and Paulk ad imidiate RB depth

2. Payne pushes for a starting cb spot

3. All the lb prospects can crack the two deep

4. Medley

5. All current and future DL commits

There are a lot of newcomers that will have a real shot at starting:

1) Dlambert
2) Hurd
3) Elauderdale
4) Weatherd
5) Helm
6) Tkelly
7) Dbates
8) Gaulden/Payne
9) Vwharton (return)
10) Medley

It is also highly likely that we land at least 1 more juco DL who would have a great chance at starting and 1 juco OT that would have a great chance at starting

not sure if this is a good or bad thing but this class will be seeing a lot of the field in year 1

someone on twitter made a good prediction on when we will wear the Smokey uniforms. he predicted Auburn.. because... we know its going to be a home game, and we arent aloud to have kids to OV to the 1st two conference games because of Kiffin. so Auburn will be the 1st home conference game that we are aloud to have kids OV

proof

I guess the guy on the far left was the HC and the equivalent of Dooley (check the hair) at that time because we weren't very good then. I guess the guy on the right would be Sunseri lol.

After that staff was fired UT couldn't get their top two or three choices to come to Knox to coach our Vols. We ended up settling on a relatively unknown guy named Robert Neyland to coach our Vols who was told just beat vandy. Neyland quickly got rid of the losing mentality that had spread throughout the program and fans. He was a winner and demanded his players win on and off the field while instilling a swagger amongst the team. He didn't just start beating vandy, he dominated them, and basically everyone else who lined up opposite of the team in Big Orange starting one of the greatest era's of all time for any school on the football field. Ask Bear Bryant.

OK, maybe not all of this is true :) but I think Butch could be about to start another great era in UT football.

I believe hubbs addressed this misconception about the OVs

OVs are not affected by NCAA decision. For the first two sec games we cannot provide tickets to UNOFFICIAL visitors
