Ainge's resume

Its been a rollercoaster with Ainge...but if he stays healthy last year id say we would of gotten a win over LSU who every body considered at the end of the year the best team in CFB including UF....which I think is BS because they beat a very overrated Irish team & they beat Arkansas...

Back to Ainge I know its your senior season and you want to show your toughness and be the leader of the team, but if your hurting your team because you have a broken finger on your throwing hand and it screws up the way you hand off the ball causing fumbles, & you cant throw the ball downfield there is no shame in letting a healthy QB in there

Usually the most popular guy on a struggling football team is the back-up QB and if we where still 1-2 going into this week after having Crompton start the first three. VolNation would be chomping at the bit to get Ainge back in there and turn the season around.

I dont think team morale could be any lower right now, and you know Ainge is blaming himself for that backbreaking fumble.

Bottom Line is if Ainge can get this team to 10 wins and give em a chance for 11 in a bowl then his resume will be IMMENSE

He will not make it to 10 wins. And Ainge doesn't give us anymore points against LSU than Crompton did...

Interesting. Crompton puts up 24 against one of the best defenses in the country on his first start, yet Ainge could have done better. Yet this year, Ainge puts up 13 against a freshman/sophmore loaded Florida defense, and it's the defense's fault.

This is not a bad analogy. And Ainge has been a sirloin thunked down on the table with Kraft mac and cheese and tater-tots on a paper plate with plastic utensils. And Thunderbird in a plastic cup on the side. With the waiter working like heck to get you your food before it's cold, of course.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH pure genius!

we saw crompton in Fla. he threw a pic within a few passes

He came in late and has had a short leash the entire time he's been on campus. Had Ainge done the samething (and ainge has had plenty of games where his numbers were just as impressive), the coching staff would have made every attempt to keep ainge's psyche intact and not do anything to get him rattled. They even developed gameplans to specifically avoid putting him in positions where he have a lack of confidence. That, (along with his pinky) is why we have been reduced to 2-3 yard passes.

Crompton and CJ Leak would have been hiking back to North Carolina if they would have pulled a stunt like Ainge did in the 2005 LSU game. Yet Ainge is forgiven. Don't understand it...

OK... :good!:

Ainge is the steak you ordered 45 minutes ago that is finally brought to you table cold. Crompton, Rick Clausen and anybody else is the steak that is thrown in the microwave and touched a few times on the grill for 5 minutes after you sent the other one back and are expected to be the same quality as the one you desired.

In other words, these other guys are just thrown into the fire as an afterthought, and these coaches expect these guys to perform just as well (or better) as that guy that has been preped and given opportunities to succeed.

I would take a rare Crompton or Coleman over a 4 year aged Ainge any day, esp. considering the fact that now, we're just playing for... well, pride?

Hey I wanted Crompton starting ever since he got here...

I read all that crap on scout & rivals about him being a top 3 QB in the nation coming out of HS...& how it was always his dream to play at Tennessee.

I was throwing a fit every week in 2005 when Rick Clausen would start because I had no idea Crompton was injured.

Ainge is good enough to get the job done though if we could just RUN THE DAMN BALL.

Even with a limited passing gameplan, Erik Ainge is on pace for 3,184 yards, 24 TDs, and 4 INTs. Granted the TD:INT ratio isn't realistic, but 3184 in college is a good number .. esp. with a limited gameplan.

I am not defending Ainge at all. I can take him or leave him as far as TN qb goes. I was one of the ones that posted after the cal game in the thread "no deep ball"? that if he couldnt go down field then Crompton should have came in. Crompton could start every remaining game this year and I really wouldnt care. If it was 3rd and short could Crompton make a play that Ainge couldnt? Maybe. He will def Tebow it for a first down. But with all that being said, Ainge is not the main reason we are losing and Crompton is not the Savior.

And again, us playing for pride can be put on about 40 other people more than Erik Ainge.

never said Ainge was the main reason why we are losing (just said Ainge's career here is symbolic of the failures of this program), but he is without a doubt a contributing factor.

Nor have I said (or am I expecting Crompton or Coleman) to be a savior. Just making the point that Ainge has had plenty of chances. Plenty of opportunities. Plenty of times where the staff has cut him enough slack to hang himself. It's time for us to start sharing some of these pardons with other players and see if we can actually find a QB that can make plays and not limit us on offense or constantly need positive reinforcement whenever they make a mistake.

I gotcha

Crompton can throw but his accuracy is lets just "needy"

Ainge's health issues and mental stabilty are shall we say "needy".

Let these guys geta few snaps and get a feel for the speed and flow of the game before you start making snap judgments about what they can and can't do.

We've seen enough of Ainge to know what he's made of.

A day late and a dollar short...

But it was Arian's fault or not wrapping up.

Give me a break.

I swear, if this had been any other QB... Suggs, Matthews, Rick Clausen, CJ Leak, Sheaffer, Crompton, etc... they would have been lucky to have 2 strikes against them in big games. This guy gets multiple opportunities to redeem himself and constantly comes up short. How many more times do we need to carry this guy?

I have been pickin up what ya layin down during this whole thread......there have been more downs then ups and also his family comes from New England money...hmmm

Hopefully this is a joke, because Oregon is a whole lot different than New England.
