Bump for madkins

What are you bumping? It looks like Tricities was pulling info from VQ, where a few people incorrectly assumed North had his black stripe removed. VQ never said he got his stripe removed, the UTSPORTS volreport mentioned him still having his stripe, and he still had it in every picture taken from yesterday.

If it was removed I think someone would have mentioned it.

Yeah that's my bad on North's stripe. Probably jumped the gun. I saw the first 3 posts in that thread on VQ and it got me all excited lol

I just now went back and found the same thread and on down, they found the mislabeled picture. My apologies

I forgive you :huggy:

I don't think he is doubting the ability of these players moving forward. I believe he is pointing out that they have similar players already on their teams and are still pulling in top d-linemen. The concern here is depth at this position. We are building and other teams like Florida and Bama are simply adding to already great squads.

I would agree with that sentiment. While I put a great deal of emphasis on having strong trenches to succeed in the SEC, I feel we can also excel against the Florida's and Bama's in other areas. For instance, I think our WR core is way stronger than both of theirs. I'm curious to see what Dobbs can do, I think he may be the type of dynamic player that flourishes in Butch Jones offense. Don't get me wrong, we aren't there yet. But with 2 or 3 great recruiting classes and we can be right back in the thick of things.

What are the new coaches like at practice?

Clearly on defense it's very different. Much less yelling and things for the players seem to make sense. Now, we all thought coming out of the NC State game that the defense was off to a nice start and if they improved off of it then they had a chance to be pretty good but we all know what happened.

I think Steve Stripling for example his passion to coach and teach is higher than what Palermo's was. They are more experienced in coaching in the secondary with Martinez compared to Ansley.

I think offensively, Azzanni's attention to detail is obvious.

Now, how does this system of offense work week in and week out in the SEC, time will tell.

I like what I see, but I liked what I saw from Chaney. I do think across the board the attention to detail seems to be higher, but we will see how that bares out over time and the proof will be there in time.

What? We have huge question marks at WR.

Alabama has a preseason All-American, a few solid upperclassmen, and are bringing in Robert Foster, who is comparable to North in terms of ranking.

Florida doesn't have a great WR corps, but is bringing in the best WR class in the nation including Fullwood and Robinson.

and probably Ermon Lane IIRC

Words of wisdom from Hubbs. I am really excited about this team and the possibilities, but, as Hubbs said, time will tell.

One thing is for certain. There is no hiding for Butch Jones. Everyone in the country knows he is here after the way he has recruited. There are going to be a lot of eyes on UT this year.

Funny how we signed Croom,Bowles,Pig and everyone talked ab how awesome our WR class was. Same When we sign Harris,North,Jenkins, Smith. Now everybody think our WRs suck. Kinda funny.

So Croom, Pig Howard, Drae Bowles, Marquez North, and Paul Harris aren't highly touted recruits? You guys act like there is a crisis anytime someone graduates or leaves. Not to mention the 2014 class is bringing us 2 solid JUCOs and a 4 star talent in Booth. There is plenty of talent in the fold and plenty on it's way. Bama's WR position is skewed based on how dominant there running attack is and how defenses are forced to play them. A lot easier to throw on teams when they play with 8 or 9 in the box.

I love Volnation!!! Where else can you go to catch up on recruiting for a DT and land right in the middle of a discussion about how our Wide Receivers stack up against other SEC schools.

BTW- I think receiver is one area we should be feeling pretty good about. They are young, but we have tons of talent there. We just need to be sure we have the QB in place to get them the ball.

Dallas Thomas got used and abused a lot last night in the HOF Game on National TV. I've been saying that Thomas would make a very good center because of his agility and quickness, similar to Kevin Mawae.

Lol, happens every year! They forget about last years highly rated recruits and think this years class are the only ones we have, until next year when they forget about them.

1. Don't lump me in with any "you guys"

2. We have 1 Composite 200 WR on our roster. We have no upperclassmen that can contribute in a meaningful way. Alabama has 5 Top 100 WR plus multiple talented upperclassmen, including a preseason all-american. They are considered the best WR corps in the SEC. We are just trying to get a few on the field that can not be a liability. If you can't recognize the difference you should stop posting. We have some young WR talent, but we don't have a group of sure-fire can't-miss WR on our roster.

3. If you thinked Alabama's receivers are skewed because of their running game you don't watch enough Alabama football. Cooper may be the best WR in the country and guys like DeAndrew White, Kevin Norwood, Chris Black, and Kenny Bell are guys that we wish we had right now.

4. Our WR corps was ranked dead last in the SEC by ESPN. I obviously think that is low, but we are nowhere close to Alabama at WR right now.

Because we lost two pretty damn good ones. Croom and North will shine.

BC none of them have stepped up yet. And let's be honest, they didn't really have a chance to with hunter, Patterson, Rogers, Rogers, and Rivera catching everything in the past year. It's not that we think they suck, it's just that they are all essentially freshman since even the SO's didn't really see real time last year and have a new offense. There is just a big question mark at receiver. They will all have their chance soon.

And remember, stud WR's at WRU go to the NFL often and early. So having extra great WR's in the pipeline is very important IMO.

Now, back to lambert

Well, continuing the theme of talking receivers in DT thread...just heard Butch say North was going to be a playmaker this year.

I will continue to do so when you are the one that brought this up to begin with

That's an awesome stat. So I guess now the measuring stick is being a part of this top 200 group and being a 4 star talent means the player is a marginal athlete. Get off your high horse with the stop posting nonsense. You are nothing more than a stat monkey and wouldn't know a football if it hit you in the face. Just cause you made Gatorade for the football team from pop warner up doesn't mean you can properly assess talent. I bet you were one of the one's *****ing about CP last year as well. Just by watching guys like Croom, North, and Harris's film, I would say they are about as can't miss as it gets barring injury.

I watch plenty of football, Alabama included. And apparently have a better understanding of the game than you. Simple numbers my friend. When teams are forced to stop a dominant running attack and pull their defenses up WRs have the luxury of one on one matchups on an island. Not a new concept.

4. Our WR corps was ranked dead last in the SEC by ESPN. I obviously think that is low, but we are nowhere close to Alabama at WR right now.

ESPN ranking anything is a joke and by you referencing them as part of your rebuttal, you should go back to VQ and post where people actually believe your drivel.
