On Dontavius Sapp:

“I think it’s just finally getting a shot, honestly,” senior defensive lineman Daniel Hood said. “I feel last year he didn’t really have the best shot at it.”

Sapp, a 6-foot-2, 227-pound senior from Valdosta (Ga.) High School, feels the same way, although he is a little more diplomatic in saying so. He admits that riding the bench for three years … well, sapped his enthusiasm.

“Man, it was very tough,” he said. “You know, I had times I thought about leaving because I felt like I was good enough to play.”

“We had a bunch of good linebackers in front of me that was playing,” he recalled, “but I still felt like I had a place on the team.”

“I had a big role on special teams,” he concedes, “but I wanted more, you know. I always wanted more.”

“No. It really didn’t get that far,” he said. “I talked to a couple of my teammates that convinced me not to leave, that we were building stuff here.”

“These are pretty much my brothers here on this team,” he said. “I’m around them more than I am my young younger brother back home. This is pretty much my family here.”

“I kept grinding, stuck it out for these guys – each and every one of my teammates,” he said. “In the end, it all came through for me.”

“I’ve continued to work, stay hungry and stay humble,” he said. “I never let nothing get in my head, never let nothing bring me down. I always came each day and tried to outwork the man next to me and the man across the country. I want to be the best I can be and the best there is, pretty much.”

“This year is his senior year, and he knows it’s the last go-round,” Hood said. “You can tell that every play; he doesn’t leave an ounce (on the field).”

“Yeah, and I like it like that,” he said. “Nobody’s really talking about you. Nobody’s expecting you to do anything. He just keeps showing up on film, keeps making plays and keeps doing things to turn games around but nobody knows who he is.”

“I’m so proud of Sapp,” Miller said. “He has worked so hard. Every play he sprints to the ball. He always does the extra, and I love that about him.

“Sapp’s always had the heart. As long as he has the heart he can do anything he sets his mind to.”

When Sapp is on the field, he's around the ball. I just hope he does something about it when he gets there, and I hope he arrives in a bad mood.

Oh Johnny football is a train wreck waiting to happen. He may have had the greatest offseason in history personally but professionally might have been worst. Nfl team leave this kid alone

Apparently he got paid to sign stuff in Miami, according to ESPN

Solid analogy is solid. He's really more like a pre-train wreck. The tracks are gone, you know what's about to happen...but you just can't look away.

"Still waiting on Butch to come in post practice, but wrapping up player interviews. Marcus Jackson just told me that Marquez North has really impressed him for a freshman. Noted that North had the offensive highlight of the day making a play in a deep ball."

"Marlon Walls says he's down from 281 to 267 and feels like he's a great fit for this defense.

He said Marquez North is really impressing him on offense, along with the offensive line.

Butch said he really challenged his team today and gave them some stressful situations and they responded well.

He notes he really likes Cam Sutton at corner and Foreman is coming along as well.

At punt returners he said they are in no shape of knowing who they are but said having the freshmen here is helping. He noted they likely won't know who it is until the first game.

Butch said the addition of Woody Quinn really helps the tight end position. Really likes his athleticism and intelligence. But, Woody along with the rest of the tight ends need to be more physical."

Lot of love for North!

"Butch just said that after three short practices North has made it plain he is going to be one of this teams playmakers."

Like what Thig had to say about Sapp:
Thigpen had praise for his upperclassmen starters Dontavis Sapp and A.J. Johnson, pointing out that Sapp is a communicator, natural leader and “one of the smarter players I’ve been around” and that Johnson has been vital to keeping the tempo of practice up and holding teammate accountable for poor effort.
