It'd be nice if they would just upload all the practice footage into one clip.

On the QBs.

"You can tell they are freshmen. They were going at a slower pace than Peterman and Worley.

I think Ferguson looked like he could really spin it. He'll have to do some things to have a quicker release, but he seemed to have a nice arm. I think Worley has a pretty firm grasp on that top spot on the depth chart right now."

On Pickett.

"We will see. I would say based on seeing him for about 50 mins classify him as a straight ahead runner. I will be curious to see what kind of wiggle he has, but he's a physical looking guy. He looks like a college back. I'm anxious to see him in pads."

Ahh yes he had completely slipped my mind. This is first I have heard about him since he decided to come I guess

I really don't see lane being much of a factor this year unless Hill or Neal get hurt. Not that I don't like the guy, I thought he was our best back last year aside from some fumbles, but missing the whole first spring under a new regime has got to set him back.

I could be wrong and even so the odds that Neal and Hill stay healthy all season is pretty slim.

I expect him to be back in the two deep pretty quickly.

More on Meredith.

"It's been indicated to me that Meredith didn't make the 105 man camp roster and that if he's healthy he would join the team when classes start later this month."

On Riyahd.

"Jones looked healthy and I like his game. He's got to be more consistent, but I think he's got good skills."

On McNeill.

"McNeil looks more physical and bigger. I think they feel pretty good about three safeties with Randolph, Moore and McNeil. Jones said he would be one of the better position battles this fall."

Tennessee's fast pace suffered a setback when the JUGS gun malfunctioned during a pass-catching drill. Balls were coming out of the machine so slowly and erratically that the drill had to be stopped for a couple of minutes while receivers coach Zach Azzanni figured out the cause of the problem. Once the repair was made Azzanni made each player who dropped a pass do 10 pushups. He informed one Vol walk-on, "If you don't shape up, this is going to be a long day for you."

Everyone gets evaluated and critiqued during Vol workouts — from walk-on receivers to assistant coaches. At one point head man Butch Jones cracked on a Vol aide because he "didn't handle that sudden change very well." Needless to say, the assistant picked up the pace immediately.

Running backs coach Robert Gillespie put the skill-position players through a rigorous ball-security drill that consisted of three 90-degree cuts. On the first the ball-carrier had to touch the ground with his off hand, absorb a hit from a hand shield, bounce back up and take a hit from a second hand shilled before making his final cut to finish the drill.

Defensive end*Marlon Walls*looks like a different football player with the weight he's lost. He looks much more like an end now rather than an undersized tackle that was pushed to the edge.

Safety Brian Randolph continues to progress toward being 100-percent and had no protective device on his surgically repaired knee.

Redshirt freshman*LaTroy Lewis*has the makings of being a team leader and his already helping fellow Vols get where they need to be without having even played a snap.

Justin Coleman*and*Riyahd Jones*worked alongside each other and went first during individual periods with cornerbacks. Freshman*Cameron Sutton*looks like a player and will be tough to keep him off the field. The cornerbacks group was led by former Vol and Detroit Lions first-round draft pick Terry Fair.
