it's definitely weapons trafficking. Possibly Russia got upset and wanted to send a message. Something they've continued to do since then when it comes to Syria

So you are saying that the potential for an even larger scandal involving secret weapons shipments being carried out in a cooperative effort by CIA and State doesn't exist? This is potentially as big as the Iran/Contra issue under Reagan and could affect this president as well as the potential future Dem candidate. Seems to me that had they actually tried to rescue the Ambassador it would be much easier to keep everything else covered up.

Intelligence? That is a cop out, the CIA and administration can label any operation as "intelligence" and keep it under wraps.

What astonishes me is the fact you and your kind don't care WHAT they were doing there in the first place. They just might have been illegally transferring weapons and you don't care, this total trust and devotion to this administration has clouded your mind.

In response to the fact that the entire premise of the Benghazi "scandal" is falling apart, you just flat out make up a theory that it "an even larger scandal" involving an Iran-Contra arms shipment?

Guess I'm right that, no matter what, the far right is at this point just flailing around trying at every opportunity to use the word "scandal" in the same sentence as the name Obama, truth be damned.

When you look back on losing the WH to the Dems for about six or seven terms running, and ask why, you might look in the mirror.

So sorry I cut out the job description of the CIA, I thought it was implied. What do you think they were doing? Handing out girl-scout cookies?

The fact that people were killed by accurate mortar fire would tell me this was more than "a random act of violence promoted by a video" which is what your Admin pushed. If its a fake scandal then why lie about it? Why push the video story when it was false?

That's s separate issue. They got that wrong and fixed it within a week.

And btw that factoid, which is always ignored by the critics, utterly destroys the fake GOP contention that the video link was put out there because the election was coming up as the version of events from the WH was corrected 6 weeks ahead of the election.

Simple questions LG. Why all the pressure and polygraphs on the agents who were there? Polygraphs once a month vs every few years seem odd.

Its hilarious that GSvol has basically been proven correct. Sad that he got banned. It would be interesting/scary to hear what he has to say now.

Because they are an intelligence gathering agency engaged in the War on Terror and do not want Al-Qaeda to know what we were getting done there.

CIA has to brief Congressional committees on what's going on, but even the GOPers on those committees aren't talking. If it were something "scandalous," we'd know by now.

But this is why guys like Lindsey Graham and John McCain are being targeted by the Tea Party. Those guys know what is going on and support it, despite the fact it is under Obama, because they see it as necessary. That they won't become traitors to the country just to help Issa have some more ammo to scream whatever nonsense is his latest cause du jure, is just not acceptable to the far right.

The far right and Issa would happily risk American lives just to try to embarrass Obama some more.

so the "manufactured scandal" of 4 patriotic Americans being killed by a protesting mob has been replaced with a large State/CIA gun-running operation, arming people who were previously our enemies, involving dozens more people and that's somehow better for the admin?

This was a direct attack on US interests by people like AQIM, Russia and Iran. Maybe that's why they want to keep it quiet since they've told the American people that the WoT is over since we killed OBL. That probably wouldn't go over too well with John Q and wouldn't help Hillary much in a couple years

The downside to your ostrich approach is that these four clearly asked for help and were, should you prove correct, absolutely sacrificed against their will for this broader operation.

Neither outcome is going to look good for the administration or Hillary Coattails.

I find it hilarious but not surprising that LG is defending his "fake scandal" BS by arguing there was a large contingent of CIA there on some special operation. If that's true then the admin is covering up that operation - check the testimony in Congress; no one seems to know about some significant CIA operation being run out of diplomatic facilities.

Bottomline, the administration has slow walked and blocked every effort to find out what really happened and has shown zero progress in pursuing what happened OR those responsible.
