Be careful on contract work you keep money aside for taxes. I've done contract work and it can eat your lunch when there's no one paying payroll taxes for you. Also benefits.
People discount taxes and benefits but they add up.
If you're going to do it do it young, learn how to set a budget and leave excess aside and don't touch it. You'll need it for drops in hours, vacations, sickness, etc because there is no PTO.
That always helps. My mom was a succesful headhunter for a few years and made big commissions but in the end it was too volatile for her and my dad. I've been largely commission in my field for years and if done right it's awesome but getting caught napping is a serious lesson.
