The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Hopefully NBC can hire some of ESPN's guys particularly Allen Bestwick, Rusty Wallace & Brad Daugherty

This will be ok as long as NBC doesn't try to put races on NBC sports. I can see why FOX jumped on this because they are going to try and make a big push with FOX Sports 1.

This also means we will be hearing Boogity Boogity Boogity a lot more.

I just can't stand Wally Dallenbach. I guess I'm the kind of person that thinks that a former driver turned commentator should have had at least some success at the sport of which they are supposed to be an expert in. I can't take Dallenbach's opinions about car setup and the like seriously when he has a big goose egg in the win column in NASCAR. I don't care for Petty either, but at least he had some success. People like Waltrip, Jarrett, and Wallace have earned the right to be called experts as they have won many races and are all former champions of NASCAR. Maybe that's just me though.

I would not be surprised if they put races on NBCSports. You just need to hope that they don't then bump it to CNBC.

Looks like NBC is trying to be the home for motorsports. F1, Indy, and NASCAR. That's all the major boxes ticked.

I don't have a problem that much with Dallenbach. The biggest problem I have has been NBC/TNT's play by play guy.

Agreed on Dallenbach. Waltrip, I feel like, has turned himself almost in a cartoon character. Petty gets on my nerves as well. Jarrett doesn't bother me and I would like to see him on the Nascar side a little more.

Deal is for 10 years. 7 Cup races on NBC, 13 on NBC Sports. Also they secured the rights to the final 19 Nationwide races and regional/touring races.

I don't know if anyone else notices it about Petty, but sometimes when he talks it sounds like his voice has a gurgling sound. I notice it more when he is on SPEED than on TNT, but it gets on my nerves badly.

If they are going to put that many on NBC Sports they are going to have to do a better job of promoting the series than they do of the Indy Car series. I forget Indy races are on because I never seen any ads for them.

Why would you not want races on NBCS but be okay with the being on FS1? As of now, none of the satellite providers have deals in place to carry FS1 on the same tier that Speed used to be on, but NBCS is already available on that tier (at least on DirecTV).

Well I don't have satellite so that doesn't effect me. I never really said I was ok with FS1 having races either. As far as I know my cable provider is just replacing Speed with FS1. I have EPB cable here in Chattanooga.

I would prefer that Fox not carry any of the races because I hate hearing Waltrip call races. I think his whole "Boogity Boogity Boogity" thing is one of the dumbest things ever.

"It's just one of them racing deals man"

Can't stand him

This. I think NBCSports actually may be in a decent number of homes now, but they don't really advertise when the race is on. I think some of the split deal with ABC/ESPN might be a part of that, but I have to check week to week on Indycar.com just to make sure I am not missing a race. Then again, I am on various F1 sites daily so it might just be I am not paying enough attention to Indy.

It's not that you aren't paying enough attention. They just don't really advertise the races enough at all.

If this were the case there would be lots of events to cover and few guys who are "qualified" to do it.

Dallenbach is infinitely times better than Waltrip or Redneck Larry.

I'm going to miss ESPN. I love Dr. Punch, and though he'll be around on the network no doubt, it will be with limited racing. I'm a fan of DJ too, as he has it just like his old man. Will be interesting to see who shakes out where. NBC basically owns auto racing broadcast rights now.

This also makes me miss BP.

Does this mean the K&N series?

I have been watching them off and on the last couple of years on SPEED at least when they show the East Series a lot of future Nationwide and eventual Cup boys & girls in that series right now!

Speed is/will be FS1 its just changing names with the relaunch!

Who's excited about truck racing on dirt tonight?
It think its gonna be fun if they can go any distance at all without cautions. I have my doubts about that.

Also it starts at 9:30 and for this girl, bedtime is usually 10. :/

I am excited. I watched practice, and it looked decidedly slow. Still looks like it will be a spectacle, which I am all for.
