Just goes to show that no matter how smart and/or articulate the coach is, doesn't mean it will translate to the players (Dooley).

Butch has attacked the job with unheralded success, in almost every facet, sans DT recruiting (which I think will come).

He's yet to even coach a fall practice and he's apparently gotten the entire team believing him and "bought in." I've never seen this before...anywhere.

The only thing that I'm concerned about (albeit only slightly) is that he might have ascended too fast and thereby created unrealistic expectations for the upcoming season.

I think we're still a 7-8 win team, from a talent perspective, but I've also seen teams who wholeheartedly believe in the coach and the process so much that they overachieve. This COULD happen, but it's somewhat unfair to put those expectations on him and this team--although something tells me he does not mind that and would not be phased by them, whatsoever.

Confidence is a highly underrated aspect to a team and this team could be riding high, going into the 3rd game of the season. I'm not expecting a win but I would not be surprised if we give Oregon more than they expect...

Post more often, MzT. I love hearing the perspective from family members, yours especially--no BS, just complete, unfiltered honesty. I could not respect that anymore.

I'm really interested to hear if my gut instinct that this team is completely bought-in with this staff is true...it certainly seems so, judging from tweets from the players and reports from the media.

Thanks for your perspective MzT; past, present, & future!

UTPowerHour went out to Barnett last night.. so i expect him to be today. Booth was the power hour the night before he committed

Also Lauderdale had a power hour right before he committed

I actually think the fan base on a whole is reasonable. I've seen some posters on here say they expect 8-9 wins and will be mad if we lose to XYZ team, but I don't think that's the fan base as a whole. I think most have pretty modest expectations (~6-6), especially considering where we've been.

I don't think expectations have gotten too high. We've been picked to finish 5th in the SEC East. Even though those pre-season polls mean absolutely nothing, it's the only thing that gets media attention and will be seen by many fans/supporters.

I haven't felt this excited about Tennessee football in a while. I love what's happening to our program and the quality of players Coach Jones is going after -- and landing. They're not only blessed talent wise, but all seem to have great character as well.

Things seem to be looking up for UT football.....FINALLY!

Ainge just said big announcement coming this afternoon. Somebody asked him how big on a scale of 1-10 and he said 9. What are you all thinking? I think either the Berrys or someone we aren't expecting

I'll admit. I was this excited last summer and remained that way all the way up until the Trey Burton TD. I thought last year was going to be our breakout year on the field. Now I think 2015 will be that year. But I'm still excited. CBJ is building a foundation.
