'14 FL ATH Brandon Powell

“I loved everything about Tennessee,” he said. “When I first got in they showed me around the campus, from the weight room on. I loved everything. Having the coaches coaching made me like everything about Tennessee.”

“They’re talking about a slot receiver type of running back, getting me out in space,” he said. “That’s pretty much what they’re saying.”

Powell said the pressure was on throughout the visit, not only from coaches, but from commitments alike, to commit to the Orange & White.

“They’ve shown a lot of interest,” he said. “Every coach has come up to me, shaking my hand and having conversations. It’s been good. Everybody’s trying to get me to pull the trigger.”

“I was at the camp yesterday and just being around all the 2014 commits like*Jalen Hurd*and Todd Kelly, and then Coach Jones pulled me to the side and was talking to me and telling me all the things about Tennessee. Being with Coach Jones and Coach (Zach Azzanni) and walking around campus and everything, I just felt comfortable up there,” he said.

“Really, after the camp, I knew that’s where I wanted to be, but my dad said he just wanted me to go back to the hotel and just sit on it, talk about it more, and make sure I was making the right decision,” Powell said.

“He loves Tennessee, he went to*Memphis, so he played in Tennessee’s stadium before, so he’s pretty excited about it.”

“I was in the office with Coach Butch Jones, and he was excited once I told him that I was committing. He jumped up and gave me a hug and everything, all the other coaches were out in the lobby waiting and everybody was just excited,” Powell said.

“(I’ll bring) the speed that they need. They need more speed and that’s the main thing they were stressing to me, so that’s what I’ll bring to the team, more speed, and be that guy that can get the ball out in open space and make people miss and take it for eighty,” he said.

“This is it for me. I’m graduating early, so I can’t really take any official visits during the season because we have games, so I’m done with everything now.”*

Berry's play wr and lb.

I think this kid is a corner, right? I don't think he affects anything. We need him an Truitt at corner.

They are saying slot WR, personally I like him out of the backfield. He makes strong initial cuts once he finds a hole.

Sweet .. Thanks wu ... Diggin that father's on board and has a Tn connection.. Kind of

Sounds like he will take the Jabo/Kinlaw spot. Best of luck to Caleb. Hope usc or unc decides to take him as those are his other favorites.

+1

All the time these kids are spending together on return trips to campus and the mall, and all is just building friendships and will help keep the class together. While other recruits are trying to take as many trips as possible, Tennessee has almost their whole class ON CAMPUS and recruiting. Makes a big difference as Powell mentioned in his quotes today.

I'm a little late to the party but...

How does this affect how we are recruiting Stanton Truitt? Booth? Vic? The Berrys?

Stanton has worked out at corner at alot of camps. If that's the case then this doesn't affect him. The Berrys can be LB/SS types. There's a chance one if them may play WR still. As for booth, who knows. Maybe he is allowed to commit soon. Maybe they wait it out with Lauderdale and Malone
