Also, the state of Tennessee is becoming the next big state to recruit, imo. Tennessee is the 17th most popular state in the US, WAY ahead of South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. It just took our state a little longer to jump on the obsession with HS football. Now that the entire state is taking HS football seriously, the amount of high D1 prospects is going to grow quickly. We'll surpass South Carolina in terms of high school prospects in a few years, I think.
I'm getting that sense as well. It sounds like there are some real studs in the 2015 and 2016 classes in Tennessee. That boads extremely well for the future of Tennessee football.
I like to think we're like LSU sometime in the 80's and 90's. A once proud program that has drifted into an era of persistent losing and overall mediocrity. And I fully expect to come back with a vengence, just like they did.
Wasn't sure exactly where to post this, but figured this would be the best place for it. This is a rough draft diagram of UT's LB recruiting for the 2014 cycle. A VolQuest member posted this and asked VQ writer Paul Fortenberry what his thoughts were on it & if he agreed.
Top Group - High Mutual Interest:
Bates
Mouhon
Freeman (EE)
Wilson (EE?)
Tomlin
McLisse
Posey
Tillman
Owens
Register
Studs/Longshots but we're in the Mix:
Evans
Garrett
Morgan
Yeargin III
Booker
To this diagram, Fortenberry merely posted this: "I definitely wouldn't put Yeargin III down as a long-shot".
What does VN think about this list? Accurate?
-VolQuest member.I would like to post, since there were some post on here and in the media about Eric being involved in a drug arrest, that all charges against EMO were completely dropped the week before last. Its a shame how the media will not follow up on items like this. Guess it is kind of anticlimactic since the charges were dropped. He was completely cleared. Anyone who knows him would know better. Guy won't even take pain killers after surgery, let alone deal drugs or be involved with them. SIAP. Wanted to clear the air for those of you that care.
Thanks for posting Flowd.
Isn't one of the Berrys projected at LB?
Yes, Elliot Berry has long been projected to play OLB in college. I've been seeing mostly projections of Elliot @ OLB & Evan @ DB in college the last few months.
But really there is no telling what position either Berry twin will play in college at this point. They have played multiple positions in HS & when you add their ridiculous speed/athletic ability with the fact their size puts them as tweeners, it is hard to determine where they will play.
It is obvious they both have elite speed, but their heighth and weight could easily fluctuate. They both could grow substanially bigger over their senior year and summer before enrolling in college. It will ultimately boil down to specific team needs and how they progress over their senior year as to what position they will play in college.
I'm pretty sure older brother Eric Berry has recently stated one of the twins (Evan Berry, I believe) wants to play WR in college. So it is everyone's best guess at this point.
They could potentially play WR, OLB, CB, FS/SS, or KR in college. I think it has also been discussed that Elliot Berry could possibly grow into a pass-rush DE. Who knows.
