Cruitin' Forum Football Talk V

Help me out. Why does that make him look illiterate?

I'd say it makes him look like an arrogant ass more than anything. There's nothing really wrong with him thinking it and its probably borderline to say to recruits on the recruiting trail but if he's going to say it on Twitter, he should have had the balls to say it in the interview.

Yes, he has a job to do and, yes, he needs to tout all of Vanderbilt's pros while emphasizing his competition's cons but his tweet implied an inherent superiority of VU to every school in the nation while simultaneously implying that to choose to go elsewhere is to choose to be less of a person.

Its one thing to say our program is better, our education is better, our...blah blah blah...is better but when he says that, he's saying our player's are better human beings than your school's players...

It was scumbag thing to say, period.

And I don't care what anybody says, he had gotten word that Jalen Hurd was committing to UT and was whining like a b**** with that tweet. I don't buy the spin he attempted after he received some backlash for the tweet....I wasn't born yesterday.

Poor misguided Bruin, hated dooley, but loves franklin. Love kiffin too?

Good news Bruin, time to love the new Vols coach. He is a good one :)

After the last 7+ years, I'm not going to proclaim him a "good one" until I see his team vs SEC opponents....I'm too shell shocked.

He's a helluva recruiter though....

The key word in the tweet was "anyway"...confirmed feminine hygiene product with that caveat

Sure is. This class is just great at this point. If our lbs and dls are as good as the other players he has on board we will be in great shape

It's not this attitude that rubs people the wrong way, it's how he expresses it. If a young man chooses to go elsewhere, you tell him congratulations and good luck. You DO NOT throw a tantrum.

Also, if Franklin isn't selling any other choice but Vandy, why did he sell Von Bell on OSU?

Good point!

I supported DD longer than most here. In fact I never trashed him and still respect many parts of what he did here.

Also I couldn't be more happy about CBJ! I am all in for him!

I'm sorry, but Dools was lost as a goose the minute he walked on campus and former football players, coaches, analysts, and a lot of fans knew it with certainty. Many of those same folks were willing to give him a shot to learn the role and suffer with him. Some were not willing. It's OK regardless of which you were because it is a new era.

Jones has made only one notable misstep so far. Claiming to have the best staff in America is an unsubstantiated claim. Save that one for when he wins the SEC title and beat the big boys. Other than that - the man has made no mistakes and is doing what all of us could ever want our HC to do. We will know if he and the staff can actually coach and win football games in the SEC in the fall.

I disagree with this part, because one bounce or two the other way in multiple games, LSU, UNC, Florida, GA, USCe, KY first year, all of those and most likely he's still here. If he were that clueless he wouldn't have fixed most of our holes at the time (new holes now, but eh). I think as a coach he was barely average and as a recruiter he was above average, but he was easily the most unlucky coach I've ever seen (Luckiest currently, see Les Miles)

We know what opinions are like lol, but I agree with the bolder part more than the rest. At least that's how I feel and felt.

By SEC standards Dooley was an average to slightly below average recruiter, by WAC standards he was a below average gameday coach, teacher, and motivator.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

I liked Dooley. Thought he came in and did a good job.

I had hope for him. And yes he had some awful breaks.

Then enters butch jones and I am left shaking my head at Dooley.

It took butch 4 months to fix what Dooley trashed in 3 years.

The difference is unreal.

If it all translates to wins in the fall then we finally have our guy.

And I think we do!

I think DD left CBJ a very easily read blueprint of what was needed in the PR department to get this fanbase back together. Now Jones has been smart enough to take that blueprint and run with it but let's be honest he likely didn't implement all these PR things blindly.
