CBJ on our defensive ends (question posed was, "what exactly is the fundamental problem there? Is it a technique problem or a lack of dynamic athletes?":
“It’s a combination. It’s a lack of (both things). We’re continuing to develop, you know, your ‘A’ game, your ‘A’ pass rush move, and then a counter off that. And I think it’s fundamentals, it’s get-off.

“Everything about great defensive line play is get-off. A lot of it it. Some of it’s quick-twitch and exploding off the football. Some of it’s strength. With each individual, you know, there’s a little bit different aspect that goes into it

"What goes into being a great pass-rusher?"
“I would say it’s great explosiveness off the ball, it’s playing with a great pad level, having a counter off your best pass rush move. But I think more importantly, it’s playing with a relentless attitude.

“We have what’s called opportunity sacks. That defensive end may get a sack, but it’s because the three-technique or the nose guard did their job and made the quarterback flush the pocket, and that’s an opportunity sack.”

On Maggitt's ACL injury:
“He’s pushing forward. He’s on schedule, and we’re hoping that he brings another intensity level, another speed level, and another level of leadership. He works on his leadership skills every day, and he’s doing a phenomenal job.”

On when CBJ thinks Maggitt will be 100%:
“I would say it’s gonna be middle of summer, and then (he’ll be improving) on into preseason camp.”

Franklin handled it very well IMO. A lot to do about nothing from what I heard.

I just heard it. I agree it is much ado about little, but he was very on edge when all he had to is say "settling may have been a strong word". It would've been over.

Can someone paraphrase, please?
Yeah they asked Franky boy about the tweet saying something like "you're settling in life if you don't play at Vandy" that he tweeted right around when Jalen Hurd picked us. He avoided the question and then said something like "you know it's funny that everyone thinks this is about something when it's not" (as he can't mention recruits by name). He was then asked if someone went to Princeton if they were settling in life and he avoided the question. After that he got flustered and said "I didn't think I was coming on this show to get jumped".

He was really confused IMO :loco:

I swallowed my pride and listened to the complete interview. James Franklin is an arrogant scuzball. For him to argue that Vandy is the only school that a kid can get a quality education is beyond ridiculous. And his statements about the football program seem to try to make one believe that Vandy has been a football powerhouse for the past 50 years. BUT, his repeated crying about a school's large stadium and great facilities tend to point to the east at Tennessee and could only show a smart prospect that he is jealous of UT and he knows Vandy will NEVER compare to them. It was also
embarrassing how he treated the interviewing man that questioned his twitter message about Jalen Hurd.
I hope that guy gives him heck for that!

He gave an answer IMO. He stood behind the tweet without saying it verbatim.

He said "I am selling Vanderbilt and standing behind my product."

I take that as him saying his product is best and anything else is settling which is what his tweet said.

Fwiw I don't agree but I think he did stand behind his tweet.

That's definitely not an answer IMO. To each his own I guess.

My last post on this. I don't want to flood this thread with him. He was clearly on edge. He told them - very hostile - to relax. He never clearly answered. Since CBJ had been hired, his demeanor has changed. I don't know if it is pressure to take it to another level ir he knows he has legitimate competition at his biggest rival now.

Ron is correct! Franklin does suck. I'm an old George Cafego fan and as George would say there's no place worse than Vanderbilt. All real Tennessee fans HATE Vandy and anything associated with their sports programs. Period!

I agree with this. Actually I think he realizes that there is another very strong personality to content with. IMO Franklin, pearl, jones are all out of the same mold. They all are hated by their rivals. It's going to be fun to follow.

I hate vandy more than anybody. Did I say otherwise?

Eh, he didn't let the guy pressing the question put words into his mouth (not in Tennessee don't know who's show it is).

Twitter has that 140 character limit. It lets people in the media over analyze everything and come up with whatever they want it to mean.

I'm not trying to sound pro-franklin or anything, I'm far from that, but he was just defending his own words with other words that really meant the same thing as the tweet. He was actually just re-emphasizing his tweet, with the details that made him tweet what he did. Although the motive behind the tweet could never really be known, but if you believe what he is saying, it makes perfect sense.

I'm beyond tired of Franklin, and I'm definitely ready for the Vandy game this year, but I try and look at stuff like this completely unbiased and I just don't see anything wrong with what he said. JMO though. Franklin still homo for Travis. :hi:

Get outta here Franklin lover!

Jk, well kinda

It's Franklin's job to sell that any choice other than vandy is a mistake in recruiting. Why are we offended by him saying such??
