Love me some Stanley, but if he's the Founding Father of WRU it's because of his work as a WR in the NFL, not at UT. Much more a rb at UT than a WR. 353 carries for 1900+ yds and 28 tds rushing ... 48 receptions 1075 yds 8 tds receiving

Benjamin Franklin was never a President of the US, but is still a Founding Father.

Stanley Morgan's pro career helped bring many players to UT...not just WRs.

Do the math on your own post... Rushing avg 5 yds per carry.
Receiving 22 yds per catch.

If he had 353 receptions, that is 7,766 yards...sounds like one helluva WR who was also a very goo RB :)

Don't disagree at all about Stanley's importance to the program. He was one of the very first players I remember pulling for. Him and Jimmy Streater. However, just pointing out that he was primarily an RB in college. All the other guys that are being mentioned were true WRs at UT.

With Pantling, I don't know that he liked the atmosphere in the SEC and that is was almost a 24/7 grind in this league. They didn't have a lot of down time those first couple of months, even after signing day, and that, I believe, leaned on him.

As for Sandlin, I just don't think he meshed well at Tennessee. He's interviewed for a few other positions in the last few weeks as I think both sides could tell it wasn't the right fit and Tennessee went in a different direction early last week.

SIAP

Fortenberry on recruiting assistants that just left.

Since the point of this discussion was which is the true WRU...not RB/WRU

Huh? Don't disagree with your premise and my original post said that. His reputation as a WRU founding father would have to be based on his NFL performance where he played WR only.

Just put stats up to show that 88% of his touches at UT were as a running back. He was #21 in college, # 86 at NE.

Not sure about the transitive property illustration. Bottom line, I think we agree.

Still a produce WR pro

He had the same amount of productive seasons as Meachem. Stop discrediting one of the best athletes in UT football history.

Who the hell's discrediting him? Not me! He was a better college player than Meachem imo. One of the all time UT great... running backs. Got drafted and became an all pro NFL receiver.

IMO there are only two universities that can claim WRU, that would be UT and Miami.

We both have churned out amazing receivers, but we are doing a better job in recent years

I get the feeling we are either not recruiting the Berry twins very hard or they aren't drinking Butch's Look Aid. Anyone else feel this way?
