The only question is whether Patterson will be primarily a return specialist or truly commit to perfecting his craft and becoming the greatest wide receiver to have ever passed through Wide Receiver U. I wish him all the success in the world but, personally, it is very difficult to think of a one-semester phenomenon as a VFL.

I think this point is so overblown. He has been playing WR for a long time and will continue to do so.

nicksjuzunk, to quote Val Kilmer's version of Doc Holliday, "I beg to diffuh." A lot of NFL scouts and draft analysts are offering similar appraisals of Patterson's current status. Thus far, he has succeeded magnificently on pure, raw talent. However, he came to Tennessee unpolished and he left the same way. There is a world of difference between "can learn" and putting in the time to truly master his craft as a receiver, a la Jerry Rice. I make no assumptions as to the eventual outcome; I don't think that NFL teams are doing so either. If he chooses to try to "out-talent" the NFL, he could be nothing more than the next Devin Hester and that wouldn't be half bad. If he chooses to truly immerse himself in the process of maximizing his talent and command of the wide receiver position, he could potentially redefine it in terms of greatness. His ceiling is purely for him to determine.

I, for one, would not be disappointed at all if Carolina drafts CP.

I, for one, do not want to see him in the AFC South...and since the Titans aren't likely to draft him, I'd be fine with him being a Panther.

If he is going to be in the AFC South, I for one wish it was the Colts. But he won't make it to 24, so I would love to get Hunter or Rogers, colts have no second rounder, so both will be gone unless they make a trade to move up or take one of them @24. But Colts just signed DHB so I don't know if they are going WR round one anymore. I still hope they do, DHB is fast but inconsistent, hoping getting away from the Raiders really is good for him and earns that #7 overall pick in 09'
Sorry couldn't help myself, would love to see one of my UT boys catching balls from Luck.

As of now, the Titans are poised at no. 10 in the first round. They have made a lot of noise in the off-season, for once, in terms of free agents. Their recent draft history, however, does not suggest a high value placed on the receiver position, but could this be the year they actually pull the plug and draft CP first as a combination receiver-kick returner?

The Broncos, on the other hand, are very well stocked at wide receiver, with the addition of Wes Welker, but I am sure Peyton would love to have another game-breaker of CP's caliber. Of course, he won't last that long and they have more pressing needs, notably cornerback.

In two of the last four drafts the Titans have drafted a WR in the first round: Kenny Britt & Kendell Wright, so.....you're wrong.

You're right about free agency. However, while I would say they've improved through FA, how much remains to be seen....I wouldn't take every move they've made in the off-season as an indicator for how they'll draft.

That said, I see them taking someone on the line, either a Guard or DE, depending on how it breaks.

Much more value available in linemen, either OL or DL. Both are huge needs so that's where I'd hope they'd go. Or CB. Or LB.

I stand corrected with respect to the last four years; I was thinking long-term, however, say the last 10-12 years.

We will grab one at some point, we will go outside LB/rush end or CB/DT. But if OL stud who shouldn't be around still I could see that. Well I've named everything and really that's how I feel, they could go with anything. Free agency signings abled them to approach the draft with BPA. Hopefully stud defenseman. I could see trying to Stepfan Taylor in the later rounds if available, runs hard, can carry a large portion of the load and still mash people. Knock is his 40 time/speed. Perfect fit with Pep being our OC

In talking to several of the analysts today they certainly are impressed with the prospects in the state of Tennessee. They are also really impressed with all that Jones and his staff are doing. They were very complimentary of this staff's efforts to recruit in terms of just their relentless approach and their creativity to recruiting.

This staff has not only generated buzz with prospects but also with those following the recruiting in the industry.

Also several prospects talked today about how hard they are being recruited by current players through Twitter as well as text messages and phone calls. - Brent Hubbs

SIAP.

If we can just be patient, I really think CBJ is going to get it done here. I hope fans don't bail on him if next year is rough (which it may be).

In 3-4 years, our talent will be back to SEC championship contending. I have no doubt about that. The night was darkest (Dooley) just before dawn (Butch). Only problem, casual Vol fans aren't patient and idiot Vol fans think we should win 11 games with our current roster.

I'm talking first round only. Rush LB or OL please.

Definitely not a creep lol. The staff loves what we are doing. Never invited some kid I don't know on my boat. I just have become good friends with Ainge, Parker, Fair, Knight, Antone. Just don't post here anymore. I'm not some fan kid or weirdo in any way. Spent the day at the complex today and every coach and player I met and had lunch with thanked me for the stuff we do on twitter. I think if you look at my twitter timeline and shout outs today you will see I am not just some weirdo. Twittercruiting and getting these kids Volnation followers is a big deal to them.

If you don't like it don't do it but to say its creepy or weird is going a bit far. The party with Erik is one we are both excited about. Nothing weird about having friends and tweeting them.

:hi: Glad you stopped by!
