And I don't think we should get beat into the ground in any game with possible exceptions of Oregon and bama. Not saying we will on those for sure. But would be semi-understandable.

Here is food for thought. Here is Alabama's 09 senior class, some have graduated early and etc. They signed 5 four stars, 14 4 stars, and 9 3 stars.

All 4 5 stars were great players and heavily contributed. We have 0 5 stars on the roster.

Out of 14 4 stars, only 4 were starters last year.

Out of the 9 3 stars, only 2 were starters.

These guys were much more highly touted than ours too

My view is, if you are expecting more than 6 regular season wins, you are setting yourself up for a high likelihood of dissapointment and frustration.

However, if you expect 6 wins, and we get more than that, the year is going to be a whole lot more fun for you.

I think 6 is honestly a very reasonable number. We have talent - sure. But we also have a lot of holes. It's just the truth, plain and simple.

It's possible we win 9 games, but former players and people who have seen the vols practice have consistently said we should be happy with a bowl berth. We would have to have a lot of things go our way.

Let's be honest, you can tell yourself that all you want but if UT goes 6-6 this fall you will not be happy. It's easy to say that now but as soon as UT loses 2 games in a row this fall this place is going to meltdown like always.

We have the talent to win 8 games with good coaching. We should be favored in 6-7 of our games. Good coaches win a game or two as underdogs.

You might say I'm setting myself for disappointment if I expect 8 wins. I say you're not being honest with yourself if you say you'll be happy with 6 wins.

Exactly. And my "expectations" don't have anything to do with Butch Jones' coaching ability, really. He's been dealt an unfair hand.

It's not his fault we don't have any talent. I won't be disappointed in his coaching, I'll just be disappointed that we're in this position.

APSU, WKU, SBama, and UK are the only sure wins in there.

It would take an outstanding coaching effort to beat any of the bolded.

Our D-Line is terrible. We have two SEC linebackers. Corners aren't any good. Safeties are okay.

WR's are bad right now. QB, who knows?? Offensive line is GREAT. RB's are very, very average. Two good backs, then nothing besides that.

They can do it. Don't underestimate this team. Just like we shouldn't underestimate the significance of competent coaching. They'll take their lumps, but I also look for them to deliver some surprises.

Do we have less talent than Stanford? Is David Shaw a significantly better coach than Butch Jones?

Because Stanford held Oregon's "high flying" offense to 14 pts. They also will be playing their first "major" game after losing their head coach.

I'm not saying we're going to win that game, but I wouldn't be shocked if we did.

We have one of the best OL's in the country, returning two RB's that did just fine last year, a stable of young 4star WR's who finally have a chance to play, a senior DL with a chip on their shoulder. Sure the LB core is weak, the DB's are young and unproven for the most part but there's talent there, it just needs to be coached.

Wilcox had worse personnel and finished with a top 30 defense. This new defensive staff had a pretty good D at Cincy. We'll be just fine. 8 wins.

We do have less talent than Stanford. And Stanford is one of the most disciplined teams in the country, with an AMAZING coaching staff.

We are not on their level right now.
