coming from a vol fan that's pretty funny.

Yea doesnt CMR lead the SEC and probably country every year in arrests and suspensions? How many suspensions does he average a yr and how many since he has been at UGA. Seems like every year they open the season with X amount of players missing this game, that game but considering the ease of their OOC schedule every year it doesnt matter because they make it back for Conference games. That Disciplinarian...

vol fans on this board bring it up more than any fan base out there and no it's not a big deal at all. a recruit isn't going to pick a school due to having an ipf or not.. the only time it matters is if we would lose a practice before a game due to the weather, but other than that it's not a big deal .

Vol fans?...on this board?...the hell you say

Interesting thread on the WR's. I see where some posters think that a recruit's rating translates into the player being next in line to be on the field. Not so. Never has been. I can promise you it will not be the case with CBJ. He is a system coach. If you are the best at doing what it is you are trained to do you will play. Since the system is fast paced a lot of players that understand the system and do their jobs correctly will play. If you don't get it and depend solely on athletic ability to be a good player you may not see the field all that much.

If Blanc makes it through fall practice as the best at this position he will start. Same for Carter, DY, Dallas, whoever. So if Croom, Bowles, Pig get it together and are the best - they will start. At this point CZA says it is Blanc, Carter and Dallas with DY doing well in the slot. I have no reason to be disappointed. They are obviously good at it.

Am I crazy that in all the hand wringing over the QB/WRs, I keep going back to the offensive line?

I can't help but think that if those 5 play up to their potential a lot of ills could be masked on offense.

We have talent, a great returning O-line, depth and talent at WR, depth and talent at RB, depth and talent at QB. If CBJ & company can coach any this offense will be great.

Defense depth and talent at D-line, Talent at LB not much depth and talent at DB's and safety not much depth. Kicking game should be much improved and return game status quo would be great! 8-9 wins is really possible but if the ball bounces our way and no significant injuries I could see 10 wins with the bowl game.

IMO

Great post. +1

This clown really trying to say that UT has been comparable the last few years in the number of off the field issues?

The only recent championship UGA has won was the 2010 Fulmer Cup. I hear Richt was dissapointed in the #7 finish this past year and feels his team can do better in 2013.

Sorry if some aren't satisfied if those are best WR's we have.... We simply want the other guys to step up, because they have the potential that we need at the position. It's obviously early, but the current starters should not have to be depended on in starting roles at Tennessee.

It has been very close over the last few years.

No, it hasn't. Our most recent year was in 2010 and that has been it since 2008.

Why do you think they call it the "Fulmer Cup" my friend. UT has always been known to have rowdy ballplayers. To be fair, all of the SEC teams have their fair share of knuckleheads.

I was refering to recent years. I am aware of how it started.

Well, let's be honest. The SEC wouldn't be as good as it is without a few "questionable" players lol

My point.....:hi:

Being satisfied with below average WRs is for some other fanbase. I expect to play for Rings year in and year out. This year is somewhat of a pass for CBJ but I expect by Year 2 to take steps forward. Now the WRs that are best right now don't bode well in shaking free for a young QB against good competition. I really don't expect Blanc, Carter, or Young to shake free versus Watkins, Roberson, and Purifoy for Florida at all. I think those guys could completely overmatch our WRs athletically all game long. But that's just me though. And those are the guys I'm aiming to best.

I get what you're saying. I see both sides of this argument. But Break, weren't you saying the same thing last year at this time about ZRo?

I like your optimism, but I hope most of the fan base doesn't share it. I'm not a nega vol in the least, but I struggle to see us winning more than 6 or 7 this year. We have some talent for sure, but we play a lot of teams with more talent. If people start expecting 8 plus wins, it will get ugly again next fall.

That said, I'd love 8 plus wins. Would require us to avoid key injuries, be in tip top physical condition, play with consistent effort and catch more than a few breaks IMO.

The difference is ZRo had a lot of experience and the playbook remained the same.

True enough. But he's a good guy to keep in mind for both these arguments on WRs and the earlier discussions on LBs. this is basically minor league football, and guys develop at different rates. You can't just write off younger guys if they don't perform well early on. They can develop. That's why I think the handwringing over WRs at this point is premature. We have guys in that role with some special athletic ability, and I think there's good reason to be optimistic about the position.

In fact, we may have more high quality and elite athletes at that position than any other...
