Willie Martinez said that LaDarrell McNeil has been the most consistent defensive back through 6 spring practices. He said his db's had a long way to go in terms of technique, playing the ball, etc, etc. But he praised McNeil's approach to practice everyday.
Steve Stripling told me that J. Smith was his dl MVP on Tuesday and said that Smith has adapted back to the DE position very quickly. McCullers showed a step forward on Tuesday as well as Stripling said he felt the whole group took a step forward on Tuesday.
He wasn't sure they took any steps on Thursday. Same for the receiver position.
Jones was clearly worried about his teams focus on Thursday and pushed harder than he has all spring in terms of verbally challenging guys.
Eric Gordon remains out. He did see part of practice on Thursday as he was around the complex, but he wasn't on the sidelines. He's expected to miss the remainder of spring.
Hindsight. How many of us would have been able to call it? Most hated to cut Cross because he was our first commit, but I don't recall anyone griping because they studied the tape and saw a huge difference

I'm hoping Brent turns out to be a good OLB. I really don't see much in most of our LBers yet.after watching the video, we are going to get thrashed by opposing TE's in space. AJ looks like the only serviceable LB for us. Ouch this is going to hurt....
