'14 TN RB Jalen Hurd (UT commit 3/14/13)

From what I have been reading UT is not really in the running for Hurd. I am hoping that will change. :crossfingers:

This was probably true 2 months ago. Butch has been doing work. Jalen is coming to Knoxville this weekend, and he recently has had good things to say about Butch and co. He wouldn't be coming this weekend if UT were "not really in the running."

What I want to know is what in the funk are these damn recruiting services think they are doing giving him a four star rating? This dude is so off the freakin charts, he deserves 6*s (out of a 5* rating system). All he does is put up herculean numbers and make opponents look like they don't even belong on the same field.

I can see them maybe moving him to WR and using him just like we did with Cordarelle Patterson. Almost a hybrid role. Lots of runs and ST work. Having him an Marquez North in the same lineup would almost be unfair to our opponents. He should be CBJ's No.1 priority in 2014.

He is a 5 on 247. Rivals has not given out 5 *'s to the 2014 class yet. ESPN hasn't given stars yet, but he is on their watch list. Scout sucks

It is true. He was expected to be an early commit before CDD got canned. I expect him to be a VAHL

That was quite some time ago now and he has, of course, cooled on us some. I would say he is not leaning anywhere atm, but if I had to take a guess where he ends up I would guess us (If Butch wants him enough).

Butch will not let him leave the state...he truely means keeping in state talent in tennessee
That sounds nice, but it's straight up homerism. Butch doesn't have any say whether he stays or not. All he can do is make him a priority in this next recruiting class.

^ Exactly!

Bash me if you want to but this one has the Jalen Ramsey and Vonn Bell feel all over it IMO! Really hope I am wrong for the record.

I don't think it's quite the same. Ramsey never really had interest....wanted to go somewhere else. Bell, we (Dooley) never recruited him enough so he ended up elsewhere.

Jones is showing the love and Hurd has interest. Those are two things together that never existed at the same time for those other two.

I really like how this looks!

Bell "showed interest" as well. We shall see though it is a long time till NSD.

I was just talking to my roommate about how freakish an athlete CP was and that a player like him is very rare and doesn't come along often.

Well, Jalen Hurd appears to be the next CP. If this upcoming season shows promise for 2014, I think a great selling point would be the offense UT is capable of putting together. We have an insane amount of firepower on this side of the ball, given that a QB steps up and becomes a true starter.

Hurd is the best RB I've ever seen at the high school level. I mean, he would've had 4,000 yards if he had played every game this year. If he stays healthy this year, I'd be willing to bet he breaks his own record. Beech returns most of their O-line I believe.

He is a stud for sure, but different from CP. CP was lightning in a bottle. Hurd is like a faster Eddie George. The agility and quicks of CP won't be seen around for a while.

Hurd is a special kind of athlete. He has a record breaking season and probably only played a fourth of the games all the way through.

Any concern about him outgrowing the position is warranted but he has the natural ability at RB no matter how tall he is.

I feel like his final three will be Tosu, vandy, vols, I don't think he will go to bama

One of our sites listed today the top targets out there and listed Hurd as favoring UT and OSU at the moment. Unless Hurd will consider anything other than RB I believe he will have no interest in UA.
