'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

MZTerry,
I agree. I try not to post something I wouldn't say to someone in a sports bar if we were just talking about the Vols.

Quick question: Do I need to give you my email address to get what you were going to post about this last recruiting cycle? I was really interested in what you had to say, even if others were not. I understand if you're not going to either.

Thanks.

I'm not going to discuss Alvin with y'all any more. He made his decision and he's really really really happy with Bama right now, and I luv him, so I'll jsut respect his decision.

I don't want your email...lol I wouldn't tell you anything privately that I wouldn't say publicly, right here. lol but good try :)

well dang.... i thought u loved me? lol:birgits_giggle:

and I've been telling y'all all along... KIDS Parents coaches from the university and high schools read all of the boards and advise accordingly.

I'm a little different because I like to judge folks for myself, BUT much of what was said about Jason gave me a certain type of feeling about how receptive you guys were to his recruitment and what it would mean for him to come here. It definitely had a factor.

I used to read other boards, and I'd flip out on them too before they knew who I was. Some fanbases who played the fence with Croomsters offer......"bashed" him... I tuned out..... With Vnation.... I luv y'all from the beginning. always had been excited about him coming.; and always cared about his recovery. It absolutely does matter what's being said about our children here.

At the end of the day.... he's just a player for you, but that's my child.

MZTERRY, I would like to ask one question if you wouldn't mind. VN is a small sample of our over all fan base. Some on here are great, some are bad, and some are just down right retard. I've lived in TN my whole life and met many more good than bad. With that being said would parents really come on here and form opinion on whole fan base with just this small of a sample??? I had a DD that played college ball and I like you wanted to see for myself in person and would of never gone on a site to make up my mind!!! I have just been curious about this for sometime, as my experience gave me no look into big time college recruiting like you went through!! Thanks

Is there a place I can buy your book? Amazon? Nook? I was really looking forward to reading it. :)

Thank You.
I respect all the kids that give their all for college football.
Jason is one of many, and from a fan perspective looking in on the recruiting process, I think many try to sway the kids. I honestly don't know what things stick ut to the kids, or their parents. As a parent myself, I can somewhat understand.
There is a % on any boards that just say negative things no matter what. Those are easy to understand that players and family don't like and stand out. The ones I cannot put my finger on arethe pepole saying a kid will not see the field @ school x .
All I know is I would not put my kid on a bus that 25% were screaming its going to crash again. I would put my kid on the bus that everyone is saying they are going to get there 1st. .. even if they had to wait on a seat.
These kids look to the fans to understand where the team is and where the fans think they are going.
I truely wish everyone with some sense would start reporting the negative posters. Eventually they will get banned. I am all for an alternate perspective, but there needs to be a limit on the flagship board of the Vols. If these comments are truly damaging the Vol program, students, ect. It really should be considered.

You would NOT believe some the mess I hear and see with kids trying to be swayed to a specific school. A high school coach can have the biggest affect on where a kids chooses depending on the relationship. EXAMPLE: Jason and his high school coach are like father and son, and I appreciate and respect him tremendously!, however, JASON is my son, and when a few hiccups happen in Jason's recruitment... I stepped in and took it over and STOPPED everybody from talking Jason once the decision was made to come to UT. I had schools blowing my phone, email, and facebook up trying to get in my living room.

My advice to any parent who made read this post:
1. learn the rules of the NCAA first
2. Be cautious of people who try to bypass the parent
3. Never send your kid on an official alone
4. Be cautious about visiting schools that are NOT building a real relation with the parents.

People fail to remember that NONE of these kids truly make the decision of what school they'll sign with; at least not in my house.. :) I had to put my signature on those papers for my sons to accept their scholarships, so if you don't agree as parent; remember you remain in control until that kid is 23, by that time he/she should be outta school.

**PS: This post is in absolutely NO reference to ALvin.... just in case a cyber dummy questions that***

Alvin handled himself exactly like I wish we had handled Croomsters. He listened to me and kept his mouth shut to the end end end!!!

When I was in school..... you had to wait to read the paper the next day to get all of this information... now days.... we dont have to wait for jack... twitter, facebook, texting, message boards.

Everything is so readily available...... to us... it's crazy.

I'll answer anything you want to know in regards to recruiting.

At the end of the day, he's more than just a player for us. He chose to be a Vol. He will succeed here. He will be a mentor to many young men wishing to follow in his footsteps. He will graduate from UT and be successful in ventures beyond football. And he will still be a Vol. I think that this is the approach that Jason has taken, and since this is Alvins thread, I think that is the same approach that you have helped guide Alvin with. We all would love to see Alvin in Orange, but ultimately, Alvin is doing what he feels is best for himself. Nothing wrong with that. BTW, glad to see you posting again MZTERRY. GBO.

Thank you HUN!

I didn't want the stress of where AK was going to be posted every other minute, so I backed off until it was over. I'll do the smae thing next year when all of my other Norcross boys make their decisions.

I will say this right now.... We have 3 parents of 3 offerred Norcross kids that LOVE them some UT, so y'all be cautious about what you say on their threads.

But what about the trolls that we can not control that say awful stuff about recruits while posing as Volunteer fans, they makes us look bad, but we have no way to stop them, tell us, how do we counter that?:hi:

Do you have any idea how easy it is to just claim you are a Vol fan, and then just bash away at a recruit just to piss them or their family off? It is so unbelievably unfair to take what is said on a website as a reason to turn on a school.

We have desperately tried to tell people the same thing. These young "wizards" with their new found technology like to be bold in statement but lack in discretion. In other words, the only fix to stupid is smarts. Lets see who passes the test. Should be a fun challenge during this slow (no football) season. G'day. :hi:

could be unfair but it happens

let's use my family as the example:

last year Miss St was pissed off at ME and Jay for not committing, and the one that trolled over here on Vnation posted everything I had ever said when a fan swiped the post after Jay announced and I told you guys who I was. OMG!! They started coming over here and posting crazy mess on Jays thread... pissed that I had been speaking to you guys candiidly..... just crazy....

They hate me because I wouldn't sign off on those papers... even though I told them why I didn't..... go back and read February 1 in Jason's thread.... Happy day for the VOLS and pissy for the Dogs

That's when we come together as Volnation - and with the help of the mods - remove them. Not only on Volnation but on the KNS site. They are notorious for allowing trolls to stir up negativity just for the site hits. But - since this is Alvins thread, I will once again retreat.

Right... I just got off the phone with one of the guys mom.... they love UT and I was reading to her some of the stuff we're chatting about tonight.....

Her response.... "so true Karen it's sad, but it is the truth"

Thanks. I just think it would be strange to go to a board like this to get a feel for a school you were looking at. We went to games, met other parents and stuff like that. I would think a message board would be the last thing I would look at. 1st would be the coach of course, then I would think other parents and players, then fans in general. Wouldn't a message board be way down list???? I know the idiots should tone down for sure. But I feel not so much for recruits as that's just not a decent way to treat people. Guess I'm just old school!!! Thanks for in-site you bring here for sure!!! ps: we do love ya!!!!!!:salute:

I guess we can only do our part to spread positive aspects of our school and hope the message gets through.

Gooooo Vooooools!!!

i think the best way to counter it would be to make ALL recruiting on volnation a premium site...where you pay to read, then you would have info on each subscriber thru their credit card....

and all this bs of one person subscribing and giving the info to everybody else would put their membership in jeopardy....

Let the coaches do the recruiting...not the fans....I'm sure the coaches would agree...

Why financially punish folks who are without guilt for other peoples' misconduct? Unlike GVX, VN has a rule against criticizing the staff, and nobody criticizes the staff. If Freak wanted to stop folks trashing players and recruits, he could do it. Of course, it is far from given that the mods would enforce such a policy with good sense.

I hear that some other team's sites will not let you join or will immediately ban you if are trolling for another team. Does anyone know if that is true?

I understand thinking that your good enough to beat out a group of RB's that could be the best RB roster ever in college football. But from a business standpoint why wouldn't you go to another well respect SEC team that gives you a much easy path to being a starter. AK could have been the man at UT walking in the door and been prized by the fans where as at bama he's just a average player. Also if he moves to another position its the same thing at bama cause they are stack at those position's as well. I wish AK the best of luck and I hope he graduates from Bama but it wouldn't surprise me to see him transfer out in a couple years. This is my opinion just wanted to put it out there

I have never seen any site that will not allow a rival fan to post especially a pay site. Money is money very simple. And every free site, even UA sites have many rival posters on there. Yes most sites will ban for hard trolling but most would ban their own fans for some of the things said on this site.

And to those that think trolling on here is bad spend a day on the Rant.

I only know of one site where there is no trolling or what some would say is inappropiate posting. Crimson Country Club only excepts new members via an invitation by a current member and then they have to be approved by a board. Also it requires every poster to post by their real name and have a profile of who they are. I am sure there may be others like it.

In general this is true, although I take it you don't visit FSU sites very often. They very sensitive folks.
