All of the dust is settling on another unspectacular class.

The Not so optimistic Vol fans are screaming I told you so.

The Overly optimistic Vol fans are trying to defend the class.

Which side is right?

I am negative on this coach. I feel he is another in over his head.

But I want to believe that my school cares enough to want to win. That they can win.

But seeing Ole Miss and other schools dominate UT today makes me believe we just saw our shadow and are in for more dark days.

Someone bring some light into all this please.

CBJ and Co. go to work and coach these boys up and get ready for football. That's what happens next.

Football is a CYCLE. I don't understand why people can't grasp this concept.

I think it will go something like this: Excuses, Losses, More Excuses, More Losses, etc. etc.

Maybe a decade from now we'll compete for championships again, but more likely, we're pretty much going to be what Ole Miss was in the 80s and 90s.

So when does the up cycle for this program begin again?

It wasn't today by finishing behind 10 other SEC schools in recruiting.

Were you around in the 70s and early 80s? Sometimes it takes awhile. I think we'll be up again sooner than later

All you whiny little b!t#@%s can go #@$% yourself. Go cheer for some program like Alabama that wins it all every year and has 5* kids loaded to the bench.

Part of being a loyal fan is going through the wins and losses. Your whining is an indirect jab at the 21 kids that just signed to give their all for UT. They want to be part of something great and bring the program back to its better days. If you don't, then GTFO - nobody wants you here anyway.

Who did we finish ahead of?
Kentucky Missouri and arkansas? Per rivals we are 20.
Which service is the one we go by?

Saban said in an interview today that his staff has been building relationships with these recruits for a year whereas Butch Jones has had seven weeks. Sure some other programs with relatively new staffs did better but they have had competetive programs in the last three years and the Vols had Dooley. Nuff said!

We wait...thats what happens next, wait and see. The realist surely didnt expect this new staff to "shock the world" today, yet i think they still did pretty good, not great, one playerhas made the difference in everyones opinion and Mr. Bell left us at the alter so we move on. The science of ranking these recruits is not perfect or exact, and it is extremely hard to judge what is high school talent and what will translate to the collegiate level, the number one factor for success is coaching, and we dont know what we have. CBJ has had success, but its a whole new game in the SEC, we wont know what we have until this time next year. After the season and a full season of recruiting, we should have a much better idea. So we wait and see. We have a tough schedule next year, but aside from the W/L record, we will know by how the team operates and fights, how the game is managed, does the team play fundementally sound football, these things will tell us if we are headed in the right direction or not. I think we are, but its not gonna happen overnight. Dooley didnt coach up, pissed off his assistants, couldnt manage a game, and apparently not very good at evaluating talent, so i think we can all agree at least as of right now, it seems we have upgraded at the HC position and thats the most important position. They will do their part, and we have to do ours, at the same time, they have to work hard and be competitive and somewhat successful and we have to support them and fill up the stands for them on Saturday...it doesnt work well the way some of you have suggested, that they become successful and then we will fill up the stands. We all have to do our part, together, we cant wait for a Championship to support our team, and they cant wait for the fans to get behind them to work hard to get better and be successful, we all have to start now, start by showing up at the O&W game and showing these guys that we love them and will support them.

i have a sobering thought here.

maybe the 90's isn't the norm. maybe everything post integration, outside of the 90's, is the norm.

maybe people should thank fulmer again one more time

you feel exactly the way i feel. the more i hear jones talk you know he isn't the man for the job. he comes off trying to be like kiffin without being able to back it up. he is already making excuses saying what most of the sunshine pumpers on here are saying with not enough time and all the other garbage. you ask what happens now, it is real simple we lose. vandy in my opinion is the best team in the state and our sorry chancellor and AD let it happen. we lose it is that simple. we are just another doormat team for years to come. it is sad.

Hard to sway a kids opinion in 7 weeks. CBJ has won everywhere he's coached, so I'll be patient. Dools was a loser, his record showed it before he got here. That was a panic hire by Hamilton! I wanna see fundamental football, players hustling for 4 quarters, and I think a close game will go our way. Just takes a little positive energy and we can start working back to the top.

Sure, I'll take years similar to the Neyland years again.
