'13 VA LB E.J. Levenberry (FSU commit)

This is VN. Expects a top ten class after a 5-7 record and no bowl games in three yrs. I guess this is the times we live in. We want everything Now! CBJ has got to show these recruits next season that things have changed by winning games. Then and only then can we expect more top recruits to commit to us. I'm disappointed, but I'm not giving up!

It's going to be hard to win games with the defensive talent we have on the field.

I understand what your saying. i think a lot of the problem is we always seem to be waiting for the next year now. Last years recruiting class was supposed to be great, then everyone said 2013 we were going to have a great recruiting class, now we have to wait till 2014 for our great recruiting class. Plus we have to wait till the football season starts before we can decide whether Butch Jones is a good hire or not.
For me i was really hoping to go into spring on a good recruiting high to carry me into the football season. thats not gonna happen now.

This is what happens when you don't bring in more elite proven recruiters, signing day doesn't go as well as you'd like right out of the gate. Thigpen got us close, but you need more staff people who have been recruiting these kids for a long time if you want an elite class the first year.

Let's just hope the coaching benefits outweigh the initial lag in recruiting. It'll be interesting to see if CBJ'S coaching continuity has more success than AU's method of bringing in the top recruiters.

Give me a break. This has nothing to do with the recruiters on this staff now. This has everything to do with Dooley throwing in the towel after the UF game last year and saying **** it. This is about all the severed relationships that Dooley created because of his lack of passion towards recruits. There should not be an ounce of blame towards this coaching staff yet because they have only had 2 freaking months to try to repair some of these relationships with these recruits. You should actually thank your lucky stars that we were in the running for Levenberry, Lawson, Bellamy, and Green.

It infuriates me that Garner didn't want Lawson, Sal didn't want Levenberry, and Grantham didn't want Bellamy...until it was convenient for them.

And these kids keep eating it up.

That is not the problem. These kids do not want UT for some reason. I think that they have no confidence that the program will come back before they graduate and we have done absolutely nothing to convince them otherwise. When you look at the new defensive coaches, the two guys from UGA and Thigpen, they were all fired because of the product that they were putting on the field in the SEC.

I know I have a wait and see attitude myself and I have been following the program since 1970. But telling me that this is a better staff than Sunseri is one thing and telling a recruit that we just hired the best staff in the country is completely different.

I may get blasted for this but these are the facts.

Someone evaluate dooleys recruiting in his year 0 (when he came in for kiffen) vs what butch has done so far. Yes i know dooley wasnt doing well in recruiting when he left but were talking year 0. Sould i assume the kiff left us in better shape recruiting wise than the doolan

Wow you guy are in a funk for sure. This one sucked pretty bad, I will admit. It isn't the end of the world and the Vols will play ball again in the fall. You can't blame CBJ and staff for this seasons recruiting downfalls. We still have some pretty good players in this class and Vonn Bell will be the stud of our class.
We aren't dealing with Dooley anymore, we have a staff that can actually coach. They have a track record for doing so. They will succeed here, but you guys gotta have some patience. We will get back to winning, but you gotta start somewhere. Truth is we were never gonna get all of these guys. Before you jump off the bridge at least see what tomorrow holds.

People need to remember this signing class good or bad will have a very limited effect on the performance on the field this fall. Very few players have an impact their true freshman years. With a decent season next year, recruiting will pick up. Now on the other hand if next season is disastrous, things could get ugly....er a uglier.

I will never again open this thread. Dude moved on from us, so I'm moving on from him. Who is with me?! (Says in my best 300 Spartan Soldier voice)

Let me get this straight .... Sunseri, arguably the worst defensive coach in NCAA history, basically says Levenberry can't play and won't recruit him to UT. Said coach Sunseri then goes to FSU where he will be EJs position coach and EJ can't wait to go be a Seminole rather than play on the Hill. My dear GOD, how freakin far have we sunk? Might as well buckle in a rough ride tomorrow boys, it ain't gonna be pretty...,

It starts in recruiting and so far its starting poorly. And nobody expected us to get all these guys, but right now we have not gotten any of them including Bell ATM. Maybe he will commit tomorrow, but as of now he has not.

It's gonna be okay - we have to have some success to build upon. The kids being recruited this year were in kindergarten when we last won the SEC. Facilities are impressive, but winning will do more. Kiffin/Dooley mojo has to be erased with some positive momentum. 2013 will be better, and 2014 class will be the bomb.
