BB,

I probably have missed something along the way, but I haven't seen or read a thing relating his recruitment with UT that indicates EJ or Dad has been difficult. There was quite a bit said about Dad being anti-Sal, but the world is full of those people...at least the UT part of the world.

He's saying FSU people are sarcastically asking if EJ or his dad will announce. EJs dad does most of the interviews and has been said to be pro UT.

As a fan I have a few rules as far as how influence should work on a recruit.

Scenario 1
What if a kid really wants to attend UT but parents want them closer to home or to attend a different school?
Answer - They should grow up and do what is in their heart. Parents shouldn't live their lives through their kids. Kid should sign with UT.

Scenario 2
What if the kid wants to attend for instance FSU but the father wants the son to attend UT?
Answer - Father knows best. Kid should sign with UT.

Scenario 3
What if for instance the mother really likes UT but the father and son really want the kid to attend school in Georgia?
Answer - If mama ain't happy, nobody's happy. Kid should sign with UT.

I hope this clears up any confusion in dealing with the influences on a young man's decision.

You might be right and he'll stay with FSU but I'm pretty sure the odds are in favor of UT right now.

Hubbs and Fortenberry, two ultra conservative guys with predictions, have said for awhile if he and his father show up for an OV UT likely flips him and they indeed showed up.

EJ's father hates Sunseri and loves UT, and as we've all witnessed over and over and over family pressure usually wins out in the end.

He's scheduled an announcement, more often than not when kids do that they don't reaffirm a commitment, they instead flip to another school.

Michael Langston, FSU's rivals mod, said it's not looking good for FSU right now.

Only a hardcore pessimist would say the odds are strongly against UT with Levenberry.

I am with you on this Ron. Nice analysis.

Levenberry is an integral part of this staff's effort on the recruiting trail and will be an impact player for the Vols, should he come here.

....unless you are J. Ford....

Eh I'm glad to see fathers' being a part of kids' lives. They can go too far (Bryce's dad), but overall I'm guessing most dad's want the best for their sons and help guard against stupid decision making (school with hottest hostesses, for instance)

also, it was mentioned that CBJ was recruiting him to be a future captain of the defense... I think that may also help push Levenbery our direction.

Could be huge... Or a disaster..

Can't see the disaster of a guy saying "After looking a bit I am staying with FSU". That's not a shock or anything anyone cares about.

The bar really isn't that high for Jones this year even though this class will have a major impact on his future with the Vols. Dooley and gang were recruiting for different systems on both sides of the ball... and then they pretty much quit trying once it was obvious to everyone except maybe Hart that the staff was going to be replaced. Jones started out behind unlike Malzahn who replaces a guy who was incredibly incompetent and even more incredibly putting together one of the best recruiting classes in the country. Jones not only started out behind but then had to back track and drop some of the guys the last staff had firm commits from.

Life isn't fair.... but it is the hand Jones was dealt. If he pulls down some major coups tomorrow or starting tonight then his credibility and chances of success will improve significantly.

Those are some very solid conclusions. And I think one of the mods should pushpin them at the top of the recruiting forum for future reference.

Awesome post :hi:

i just have a good feeling that we get this guy. If the family wont even let sal into the house it can be nothing but good news for us. Butch and co should be playing the birds of a feather angle all the way on this one.
