He'll be an excellent player on a team that very likely won't be any better or worse than we will be over the next three years.

You know what I can't understand is when the cloud surrounding Kiffin and the fog machine and hostess gate and the ensuing NCAA investigation surfaced, it was a huge red flag to recruits. The pending sanctions turned many a recruit away. Now we are clear of all that and Auburn is under the microscope, it seems to have no effect. The allegations are much more serious than ours were but the perception is much different.

I think Lawson was looking around but simply didn't have the intestinal fortitude to break up with Auburn. I don't get the appeal of the Barn compared to UT but everyone has their own personal tastes. It's a very good place to watch a game and you can certainly win there but it's not as good as Knoxville or Neyland.

I certainly think Butch is in a better position to turn around UT in the SEC East than Malzahn in the SEC West. I guess we'll find out.

I can't help but think that what hurt us was that Kiffin always ran his mouth and that drew attention to UT.

The Auburn staff and previous staff hasn't/didn't.

This. Kiffin rambling on and on about there not being any such thing as bad press drew a lot of unnecessary attention our way. I'm sure Fulmer used the smoke machine as well, but we didn't hear about it because he knew to when to keep quiet.

If it's true, this sucks. Probably is. I have to admit, had my hopes up a little bit high on this one. Oh, well. Goodluck to him at the Barn, I'm sure he'll be a standout player there or anywhere he goes. Definitely a classy young man, I respect that. That being said, I hope we annihilate the Barn next year. Hahaha

The only thing that annoys me about this is his position coach wanted nothing to do with him when he was at the in-state school.

I really, really hope CL picked Auburn because he liked the school so much and nothing more.

Me too. Garner completely did a 180 and Lawson had to buy it to some degree.

Lawson was always going to be a tough pull. this coaching staff is good and we'll close better than some people think. Next year could be lights out as far as recruiting. this staff already has us in pretty good shape with Hurd, we were dead in the water with him earlier.

Only thing I know about that is a tweet from a Vandy players (Kimbrow possibly?) a few days ago after Ford decommitted from there. Has nothing to do with Lawson.

No. I have no clue what's going on with Ford, don't know if our coaches do either. Just don't know. I have never been this much in the dark with a recruit that visited here. usually hear something, positive, negative or neutral, just something.

I think the DC was the only short fall for us with Carl.
His position coach I think built a great relationship with him.
The DC coach is just not as well known, and from what I have heard didn't make much impact with Carl.
I think next year we will see better results from our DC on the recruiting front.
That will make a difference for the big time recruits.
Its not the end of the world missing on Carl.
I just hope the Barn doesn't drag Carl down.
I would yate to see skill like his be wasted.
