Yep well probably lose our whole class I can see it now "well i was gonna go to ut but i saw a fan said a mean tweet to bellamy so i decided to change where i live for 4 years and go to school and play football because of the tweet if only he didnt send that tweet." butch jones will lose 8 gamed cuz our recruits will decommit causing him to get fired ad is out ut cant afford to pay 4 coaching staffs at once and shuts down football program. that one ****ing tweet

<snip> All of those things you listed had to do with him being a DC, for which I said he was a disaster at. However the guy coached DL for the Carolina Panthers for 7 years. You don't last seven years in the NFL unless you are good at what you do. Kind of the same concept of how Randy Shannon failed miserably as a head coach yet everyone on here wanted him as our DC last year. Coaches have ceilings, and for Sal that ceiling appears to be as a position coach.

It probably doesnt make a difference in the long run, but why do fans persist on talking to recruits via twitter? Especially if its not going to be something positive. Good lord people. Yes people say crap on message board but thats different from going to someones personal twitter. Come on now people!

never said anything of the sort. im saying it def didnt help us. but if a recruit is 50/50 on 2 schools, the fan base hating on someone might make him lean the other way. and i guarantee it wasnt 1 tweet.

Dude coached some pretty good d-lines in the NFL. Horrible DC, but a good position coach.

So Rich...You have something positive to say about this clown at an NFL level but he coached our defense to depths never before seen at the college level? Alrighty then. He's a good coach at the pro level....just can't teach kids. Cough cough.

Bottom line they ******* idiots who have become over attached fans that take this sh!t WAY to seriously.. It's quite pathetic actually, helps absolutely nothing and if anything it is a hindrance to the program...

Called the Peter Principle. I see it in action all the time in the workplace. I have stated for years the issue is not always the individual who failed, but the hiring agent who didn't do their due diligence in vetting the individual.

He is just a teenage kid. Twitter is great for instant info, but when fans get Butthurt, it makes me cringe what they say.

Numerous guys have been good position coaches or coordinators only to fail miserably when given a promotion. I can't stand Sal's greasy arse. Just call it how I see it, try to not let my emotions overrun my train of thought.

Espn has a quote from him saying UT needs to "get in line" if they want to see him this week as AL, GA, FSU, and Oregon are all scheduled to be in his house this week leading many to believe the Vols are out of it. The rivals article wasn't as negative saying it was GA #1 and UT was still in it. Who the H.E. double hockey sticks knows?

He never said "get in line" he said "take a number". Not as bad IMO since we have used almost all the possible visits on him and other schools haven't.

Doesn't particularly matter what he said. It is clearly stated we are in 2nd or 3rd behind UGA and maybe FSU though.

He said he didnt mean that as a slight to Tennessee, it was just referring to the fact that there are so many coaches doing in home visits this week that he wasnt sure when we were going to be there. kinda of like, the coaches are lined up out the door, please take a number and i will be right with you.

some of you need to remember these are kids doing interviews, sometimes their intent and the way it sounds are two different things. In his case, the meaning of his comments had more to do with the fact that he was taken back by all of the attention he was suddenly getting and not sure how they were going to accomodate all of the coaches that suddenly want to visit. It was a poor choice of words but not the slap in the face that many took it as (myself included until I read his further comments on the statement and the visit). Either way, we should never tweet a recruit anything negative period. Other players often time see this stuff and it may turn them off and its just wrong to do anyway. JMO!
