'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

Biggest question is why only 24hrs at Clemson??

"The 5-star recruit arrived on campus at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. He took an SAT prep course that morning.

Five-star end Carl Lawson continues to be noncommittal on his thoughts.
He stayed until 4:40 p.m. on Sunday.

The extent of the official visit, just over 24 hours, didn't make a difference, according to the blue-chipper.

"That didn't matter," Lawson told Tigerillustrated.com Sunday night."

And for ya’ll wondering why 24 hours, that’s how long you can schedule an Official Visit. Starts the second you are in contact with anyone connected to the university.

Actually official visits cannot lat longer than 48 hours according to the rules the last time I checked.

Maybe i'm thinking biased, but that sounds like a really lukewarm response.

Okay, so here’s the rules.

13.6.4 Length of official visit. An official visit to an institution shall not exceed 48 hours. A prospective student-athlete may remain in the locale in which the institution is located after the permissible 48-hour period for reasons unrelated to the official visit, provided that at the completion of the 48-hour visit, the individual de- parts the institution’s campus, and the institution does not pay any expenses thereafter, including the cost of return transportation to the prospective student-athlete’s home. Additionally, if the prospective student-athlete does not return home prior to attending the institution, the one-way transportation to the campus would be considered a violation of Bylaw 13.5.4, which prohibits transportation to enroll. [D] (Revised: 1/9/96 effective 8/1/96, 8/5/04)

13.6.4.1 48-Hour Period Defined. The 48-hour period of the official visit begins at the time the prospective student-athlete arrives on the institution’s campus, rather than with the initiation of the prospective student- athlete’s transportation by a coach or the time of the prospective student-athlete’s arrival at the airport or else- where in the community (see Bylaws 13.5.2.4, 13.6.4.1.1 and 13.6.4.1.2). The prospective student-athlete’s transportation to and from the campus must be without delay for personal reasons or entertainment purposes. The institution may not pay any expenses for entertainment (other than the actual and reasonable cost of meals) in conjunction with the prospective student-athlete’s transportation. At the completion of the 48-hour visit, the prospective student-athlete must depart the institution’s campus immediately; otherwise, the institution may not pay any expenses incurred by the prospective student-athlete upon departure from the institution’s campus, including the cost of the prospective student-athlete’s transportation home. (Revised: 9/24/09)

I don’t know where I got that 24-hour thing from. I blame the government. Or french fries.

Ok so the short visit meant nothing.

How big of an issue Is his test score?

clemson was the last program to get the nation's no. 2 prospect on campus in december, and the tigers were the first to get carl lawson (alpharetta, ga./milton) on an official visit in 2013. That could bode well for the program’s chances of pulling in the five-star defensive end on signing day.

“i had a good weekend at clemson,” lawson said. “i liked the official and everything is nice at clemson, so i just liked a combination of things.”

over the weekend, lawson was able to spend more time with the tigers coaching staff as they tried to convince him that he was looking at his future at clemson.

"[coach] dabo swinney, [defensive ends coach] marion hobby and [defensive coordinator] brent venables tried to pitch me on it being the best fit for me at clemson and just using me as a pass-rusher in their 4-3 scheme,” lawson said.

While on campus, the 6-foot-2, 252-pound defensive end was able to spend time with a familiar face in fellow peach state standout and under armour all-america game selection montravius adams (vienna, ga./dooly county), as well as one of the premier playmakers in college football.

“it was fun hanging out with montravius and we talked,” lawson said. “i could tell he was enjoying himself.

"i also hung out with [quarterback] tajh boyd and he talked to me about my experience at clemson and his experience there and as a recruit. It was fun, and he is a cool dude that everyone at clemson loves and respects.”

up next for lawson, still committed to auburn, is an official visit friday to tennessee to check out the volunteers, a trip he says will just give him another opportunity to evaluate his options. He has no further visits planned as he says he is taking it week by week.

Somebody needs to make sure that Peyton IS on campus next weekend. Carl Lawson has apparently said that PM is his favorite player.

That sir, would be an incredible one up over Brian Dawkins at Clemson.

Oh Dabo, you had one of the best safeties of all time speak at your visitation weekend. Well...we had THE best all time QB (aka the god of football) speak at ours.

You did see the Raven's game? Maybe, "the god of regular season football"?

""I liked it," Lawson said. "It was nice. I got to hear Brian Dawkins speak. He talked about his struggles, how much he needed his teammates in the tough times and what it takes to be successful."

At night, the nation's No. 2 overall recruit, according to Rivals.com, hung out with his player-host, Tajh Boyd, and a few others.

"I was also with Montravius (Adams) and I mostly hung out with Ebo (Ebenezer Ogundeko)," Lawson said. "I've known Ebo for a while now. Tajh did a good job of showing me around."

On Sunday, the No. 2 recruit in Georgia in the 2013 class met with Dabo Swinney in his office for an exit interview. "He just told me about Clemson," Lawson said. "He told me about how he can see me there. I like how straight up he was with me."

The Rivals100 member will officially visit Tennessee next. "(Running backs) coach (Jay) Graham is recruiting me for them and I like him so far," Lawson said. "I didn't really know (linebackers) coach (Tommy) Thigpen much at Auburn but I know he's there now."

Also, figure PM will want to come and meet the new staff. He has to know how big next weekend is.

Wont shock me at all if he is there to meet the new staff.
