Congrats to coach jones as the first commit is always special!

Welcome mr Johnson to big orange country!

Now did we learn anything from this process going forward??

I think we did. This was the easiest commitment to predict as most felt it was a done deal before the visit but still we didn't get official word before he left campus. IMO this is a sign going forward that jones won't push kids hard on their visits for commitments but will send them home to make their final decision.

So going forward we don't need to expect kids to commit on their visit. Maybe we can learn from this to be patient after visits for official word on commitments.

So if he gets that extra .1 and becomes a 4 star will you be excited and think he is a better player? Have you even looked his film or just complaint because he only has 3 stars? He looks like a good athlete to me and it looks like our coaching staff and the auburn and lsu coaches agree. But you probably have a better eye for talent than they do. I mean if rivals says he is only a 3 star than he can't be any good as they know more than the 20 schools who decided to recruit and offer him a scholarship. I can't even think of one 3 star player who ended up being any good in college.

We have learned 2 and 3 star commitments will be a common theme.

LSU already has 2 stud DBs committed. Auburn is in a crap hole themselves right now. None of the major FL schools
Offered this kid. I guess that says nothing either. Since he's coming to UT he's a gem. I get it.

Average SEC speed. Another slow DB at this level.
Umass,Fla Intl,BC and East Carolina are very impressive.
Only time he would sniff the LSU campus would be on the visiting sidelines.

He's an early enrolle with athleticism in an area where we are seriously lacking. Even if he can only provide depth then it's something we didn't have back there last year

True, but previous three were bowl years including a BCSNC and two top ten recruiting and one top twenty recruiting classes.

Per the LSU mods, he did have a firm offer from LSU.

He lost interest in LSU after the commitments of White, RR, Jefferson, and Cutrer.

Personally, I like the commit. The secondary needs all the help they can get. Its already been said that when his senior film gets out, people will be very impressed.
