I know a few high school coaches in my area that have totally backed up the Chattanooga article. One in particular I know had trouble even getting a response from anyone on the staff. Dooley for whatever reason absolutely ignored the state of TN. Recruiting is about relationships, highschool coaches have a relationship with their kids and if the TN staff hasnt built relationships with those coaches they can not just swoop in when they do have a talented kid and get him. Not when other schools have built those relationships.
My suggestion would be to schedule a day trip to the university if they have time and take 3 copies of the highlight film with you. Make yourself visible.
It worked for me. Look at Croomster now. I chose the schools I liked for him and the rest came by camps ratings. Once his name was out there then his recruitment went from one extreme to the other.
This is a short quick paced process:crazy::loco: and will drive you nuts if you don't understand it.
One last thing. I doubt very seriously if Dooley ignored a TN based kid if they were SEC quality. We have Drae Bowles, bullock , the kid from Cleveland TN committed. just off the top of my head.
A lot of times too, people think they should be recruited based on talent and no works. Meaning... they have the talent, bad character, too many demands on the recruiter, and bad grades. I've seen that countless times. There are more steps in this staircase than we care to climb ifyou're not directly involved.
