So, one possibility I'm just now realizing is possible is that Hart thought Strong/Gundy/Fedora could be better for the money/control than Gruden.

I mean, it sounds so outrageous that I completely dismissed it originally. But given how much he has ****ed up, I'm starting to think that he could actually believe this to be the case.

This would also explain how Gundy/Strong received offers (although I am still doubtful that their courting was anything more than UT exploring options while waiting for Grude).

Sitting here not doing my work as I drink my Mt. Grude (wait...that doesn't sound right), enjoying the show, hoping for the best, and always bleeding orange....

None of those are accurate.

Escrow accounts are commonly used where both parties need to ensure that money will only exchange when a specific endpoint is reached or not at all.

Also, it is common for boosters to move gifts into escrow.

There is no way Hart would make and offer if he didn't have access to the cash. Doantions are made in lump for the most part. You can, of course, pledge a monthly or yearly sum, but if somebody makes a gift of $1 mil for a construction project, they will not begin construction until they have the $1 mil in escrow.

I am an accountant and work with escrow accounts on a regular basis. The company I work for uses them as funds to property tax bills and things of that nature. In essence, they are put in place as a fund to cover whatever they are needed to, not just for loans.

In this case, it is highly likely that Hart wanted the boosters $$ in place if they were serious about paying for JG. So, that $$ was put in an escrow account and earmarked for hiring him only. It actually makes a lot of sense. Take it from some one who works with these daily.

We countered Strong almost up to $4million, and others have said that he even accepted the initial offer, only to back off after sleeping on it. What would have done if he had accepted on Wednesday? "Psyche, Charlie!"

Hyam just told a caller on the air that Jim Haslam was one of the boosters that was not in favor of Gruden.

Yes that is true, but why (looking at my other two points), would the boosters risk their funds upfront, much less put them up for something such as a legal escrow account. It doesn't make sense at all. They have pledged the funds, but the Haslems and other boosters would simply say that hopefully my word is good enough...
