Also just read this -

"I am leaving PJCS now. Strong only addresses team for a couple minutes, said he would address his future tomorrow and left the meeting. Somehow he snuck past all media after the meeting. UofL officials provided no details but the obvious vibe was that he was gone. The football players have been filing out to their cars and it doesn't look like an excited group."

UT is snake bitten, and cannot seem to hire a coach. What is the deal? Are we that bad of a job?

If the story is true, and Strong will publicly decline us, we are in for a long haul here. Something is amiss. Remember when a job at UT would cause a coach at Louisville to break their ankle getting out of there?

This is just an F-ing circus! It is so discouraging to be a Vol right now.

So now that all of the known targets have turned us down, or declined to interview, whats the over/under on Hart's departure. I'll start, 6 months.

I think Thamel and SI / CBS is reporting that our intial offer was refused but our counter offer may have landed Strong. This is starting to pickup some smoke....

Strong clearly told us no after the first offer. Is that the timing of this SI report or is it accurate after the second offer?

No matter what, we shouldn't pay anyone more than they're worth for fear of being publicly rejected. This isn't the middle school dance. If Strong doesn't want to be here, we shouldn't get in a bidding war to get him. There are plenty of good hires to be had if we remain patient (not that I personally will remain patient). That being said, I like strong and would support hiring him at 3.5 mil. 4 mil is getting excessive imo.

That's what has me baffled, 3 years ago we couldn't hire a coordinator. Now we can't pull a guy from a Big East school? What the F^ck???

Time for a total house cleaning?

Hart is going a hard time trying to justify these other coaches..

If he tries hiring Smart he better be out, with Smart, before the ink on the contract has time to dry.

He never will.

After we are stuck overpaying Dooley 2 Hart will be at the PC spouting that he was our no1 guy all the time, never offered anyone else.

Hubbs is checking out the whole SI report.

I cant answer for Hubbs but I think the SI report was outdated....I think the first offer was turned down by Strong. The next offer may have landed Strong.

It is confirmed that a plane left Knox to Louisville and on board was Hart, Cheek, and their spouses. Strong met with his team but only very briefly. Players reportedly left and seemed dejected. Hart, Cheek return to Knox with no sign of Strong.

Strong spent more time today with the AD than his team. No press conference has been announced for Louisville or Knoxville.

Seems like a lot of assumptions have been formed based on how the information was reported and most importantly when it was reported.

I dont think we will know tonight but I am actually starting to feel a little better about Strong.
