Remember that Tom Jurich said that he would make Strong the highest paid coach in college football if need be to keep him.

He is letting UL counter because then he comes back to UT and demands they beat that offer. Its simple negotiations.

or maybe UofL is going to announce the new contract at their player meeting and get some pub for being committed to football and beating the big bad SEC for a coach. just a thought

That is possible too. However, with the attention the UT search is garnering right now why would you even wait til this afternoon? You could get the same pub now. You may be right though...

Thats not true. Hubbs said they were hard on Strong before Gundy even gave an answer.

I didnt mean UT offering that much. I meant if UT offered 4 then Louis would have to offer 5-6 to keep him but maybe not. Just think he wants back in the SEC.

that is b/c everything Jurich does is done in an intelligent way - Jurich is likely going to lose his coach - not have to pay 4M a year for him

then go and pay petrino 2.5 mil with incentives and get a better coach for less money than he is currently paying strong

he will always look like the smartest guy in the room at the end of the day b/c he typically is

On Gruden scenario, could not script negotiations with Strong and operate in good faith. It may fall to Gruden again but the Strong negotiations appear to be serious.

The fan base knows better... If there really was anything going on with Gruden, Hart effed it up. Even if by some piece of incredible luck Hart was able to get Gruden now, the fan base isn't naive enough to think Hart did it on his own.
