Strong will tell his players of his decision this afternoon. Doubt we hear anything before then.

Yes, very nervous. Here is why: With UL now in the ACC, Strong can get an AQ for a BCS bowl. If a team goes through the ACC undefeated, with a reasonable OOC schedule, you could legitimately have a shot at the NC game, or at least the 4 team play off.

That route is much easier than trying to get UT through that gauntlet in the SEC.

He doesn't have to play for national championships at UL to keep his job forever, conversely if after 3 years he hasn't had UT in the SEC championship game he is probably looking for another job.

I agree. Plus I just don't see Strong as a guy that runs after the money. I am afraid if Louisville pays him and show him the respect and loyalty then i think he stays loyal to them.

I may absolutely be wrong but I told y'all I thought Strong was playing his hand for a bigger bump. I'll stand by my 4.5 number but definately it will be over 4.

Laughing my butt off that this Gruden talk is actually making people giddy about a bidding war with Louisville.

I'm glad they want him this bad though, speaks highly of him.

There is no doubt that it is a good sign when someone is willing to counter offer to get Strong to stay.

My gut feeling is that he is worth over 4 and that still leaves some huge money for a staff.

We can and we will are two completely different things.... I pray we top with that being said

people acting like L'ville doesn't have the money to match any offer is kidding themselves. They don't have the history or football facilities as UT but money isn't an issue. Somehow they are one of the more profitable program in the country. If UT offer 3.5 they go 4- 4.5 million for sure.

Basillio saying UT plane headed to Louisville. Surely we wouldn't waste all that $$ on jet fuel if he isn't coming here..

Read the quote again. He said they were picking up Lovie Smith.

Nvm, I saw a slightly different quote in the Cliff Notes thread that did not mention Lovie.

I wish we would target Gary Andersen. Didn't know much about the guy until a week ago but his resume is scary strong. If someone ever gets him out of Utah he'd be solid.

I was all over them...I read all the info, and I don't doubt that they believe their info is legit, but this cloak and dagger stuff seems too far fetched. I don't begrudge them or anyone else that was involved in the Gruden-mania, but the hard evidence points to Gruden not coming here.

I hope they're right. I REALLY DO....

I hear ya, you're stance is much smarter than mine most likely haha. But I made a decision to ride it out and I'm not backing down. I'm a Gruden believer until someone else is introduced by Dave Hart.

Because the OG's in the Gruden thread said all of this would happen, they predicted it weeks ago. They said there would be coaching interviews, job turned down by multiple coaches, meltdowns by fans and media, no one knowing what's going on, etc...and in the end Hart would look like a hero saving the day. Many more detailed info, if you followed those threads closely you would know, but you get my point.

I have no idea why it would need to be done this way, why all the drama but I didn't write the story. Apparently, boosters, Hart and Gruden did. So far, it's played out beautifully if you believed the story.

Now, this might not happen and I'll admit to being fooled but so will many others including the folks on VN sharing the info. Those OG's aren't lying, trolling or making things up, I'm a good judge of character and I 100% believe that to be the truth. They're sharing exactly what they're being told from boosters, coaches, players, agents, etc...Way too many people have heard this is real and happening for it to not be, IMO.

We'll see soon...

Ron, I hear you on this stuff, but my view was some of that was a bit of trolling, because some people knew Gruden was a long shot and knew we'd be going after others, so they were just trying to see how long they could keep the rumor alive. That's how I read it anyway. I think there was some truth woven into that whole story. But I think the OG's just got excited and pieced together the truth with the garbage and it kind of became a tangled mess.

For my part, I think we've gone after excellent coaches in this search (Gruden included) and I'm happy with where we are.

Now, if Smart turns us down, and we have to start over, then my views may change...

My understanding is even when compared against the ACC they will have the second largest AD budget. They like their sports. They also haven't pissed away buyouts like me after 10 beers.

You have got Papa John's, YUM Brands (KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, etc.), big whiskey and horse money in Louisville...and others I am probably forgetting....so yeah, they have money too, not to mention their profits as an AD.

Buck up #Vols. Didn't #Bama flirt with several candidates before landing Saban? Got to let it play out.
