Recruiting Forum: Football Talk II

Strong needs to think about this opportunity, and not let his ego get in the way of a chance to run a program in the top 10 of tradition on the college football landscape.

This hot-rod has been, restored and detailed... keys are waiting.

He said Strong was coming unless UL AD offered something stupid.

ANd from what I understand they would have to pay a lot more and give him some other perks. Like, upgrading facilities, extended recruiting budget and possibly some other potential upgrades...I do not think it would be worth it to Louisville to fight that hard to keep him...JMO...

From Rivals Mike Farrell -

Tennessee: Get Charlie Strong now, have him lure Taylor from Auburn and watch the recruits flock to Knoxville. Anything less will be a disappointment at this stage.

If Tennessee hires Strong, stars such as E.J. Levenberry (FSU), Jalen Ramsey (USC) and others will have a renewed interest in the Vols. In fact, Tennessee could be one of the most exciting programs to watch down the stretch if this happens.

For one of the few times, I agree with Farrell.

Bruce Feldman ‏@BFeldmanCBS
Tennessee has offered the Vols head coaching job to Mike Gundy, a source told CBS this morning.

Screw this...

I am really ok with Gundy or Fedora if that is the route Hart goes, but I really think UT will be missing a HUGE opportunity with Strong if this falls through.

P.S. Let's just end this search, please.....

not 1 100 yard rusher. Rushing total as a team in those games. The person I was actually talking to knows what I was saying.

But you pointed out earlier how Ga was a bette unit in passing and vs the run when that's not the case. If you look back at KY and FSU game those game were over before either school got over 60 yard total rushing. The only game we had issue stopping the run was vs Ga and A&M both team got most yards in the first half...BG was a mobile QB like JM which was UF weakest most of the year. Stating who is better is apples to oranges imo.

This man can win big games, can't argue that. By far the most successful and experienced resume on our list. I like Strong, but would not be disappointed at all with sweater vest, despite the fact that I despise him hah

i despised him as well when in ohio but i could turn really quick if he were to wear orange!

i mean honestly we will likely lose our QB and 2 most talented skill players and currently play 5 of the top 11 teams in the country next year - the odds of us going to a bowl of any significance are about zero

I want you guys to know that I wish I had something constructive to say. The emerging notion that the academic impediments now being cleared were part of Fulmer's downfall is interesting. Allowing the Gruden and Strong rumors to garner legs strikes me as a mistake. I am not sure how any hire measures up in such a light.

Someone wake me up when this cluster is over with. We offer one no wait we offer someone else. For the love of everything holy offer someone and make a hire. This is ridiculous

Yesterday felt like the intentional grounding against Florida and today the 4th quarter. Why do we do this to ourselves?

I've got a bad feeling Dave Hart has screwed this up.
He may have. Hart probably went into the process thinking as most of us do, that we are a traditionally top 10 program. However, the reality is that others do not perceive our program as a top ten program, but rather as a top 20 or 25 program playing in the toughest conference in the land and with a fan base that will not be patient(4 coaches in 5 years). Just reality.

Lol. 247's morning updates say they don't know who's been offered the job. Comical.

IMO, I think the ball is in Strong's court. I think it's down to details now. Strong may be making a lot of late inquiries about the job, and that's the hold-up.
