I dont see USCe having a spot for him, they did pretty well on defense without him. He is an east coast / southeast guy so I dont see why he would go west unless the money was right, which can be matched by any of the three SEC jobs open now.

Gus had a great year winning last 7 and trouncing MTU. I think he will be a major conference next year, if not this year.

Gus is a great coach and he'll do well when he gets a BCS job. It's probably inevitable that he moves on from Arkansas St.

It's just crazy to think the ASU is looking at potentially 4 coaches in 4 years.

I have to say it feels pretty good to see that most of the Arguments against these guys sound something like this:

"in a weak conference"
"not a good fit"
"not a difference maker"
"can only recruit well in southwest"
"not Jon Gruden"

Those are pretty sad arguments that don't have much factual underpinning. As a UT fan, hearing those things is a lot better than hearing

"15-21"
"0-15 against ranked opponents."
"4 SEC wins"
"Losing record in the WAC"

It makes me pretty hopeful.

Monte was making bank wasn't he? If we take Tee away from them (fingers crossed), they're going to need someone to recruit the southeast, they should have the money, and I think Stanford proved that playing defense might be a good idea in that conference.

Hart's two top assistants are on Tennessee's campus and Tennessee hasn't been to see Fisher. I mentioned earlier in a post that something seemed a missed with Fisher. The FSU people have said for two days fisher wasn't leaving. Still digging but it looks like no interview is going to happen.

Just curious as to why so bad on gundy?

I think him and fisher both bring a lot to the table. both would be quality hires IMO

6 one 1/2 a dozen the other. Gundy has had to recruit without much instate talent, Fisher realizes that defense is actually a part of the game of football.

Yeah Fisher is a great recruiter but he needs to turn over the play calling next year wherever he ends up. Gundy is a good offensive coach but a sh!tty recruiter IMO.

Well it appears strong isn't going anywhere. A recruit that switched from ole.miss to Louisville says he told him he's staying.

Fisher has surrounded himself with a great recruiting staff also.... Odell Haggins and Dameyune Craig are the top 2 on that staff IMO. Gundy does decent on the offensive side of the ball. He got Wes Lunt last year and Luke Del Rio this year with 3 good WR's.. he just has nothing to sell to a defensive player.

He's told everyone he hasn't interviewed at Tenn or Aub when questioned. You shouldn't think he wouldn't hold back with a recruit...

Well I know it's not 100% on the up and up but when he told the kid that this weekend he didn't have another job offer. If he gets an offer then the game changes IMO.

that whole conference is full of crappy defenses - kind of hard to research on it as several of the teams are in different spots now - but for the big 12 his 2011 defense was near the top of the conference

i don't watch enough ok state games to have much of an opinion but there is precedent for a coach slightly changing styles as they go from conference to conference and team by team (spurrier, Ckelly, etc)

he had a couple really nice seasons at ok state and last year had them right there w/ a shot at a natnl title - so i think it is reasonable to think he would do very well here

According to Tom Kreager, James Franklin has broken TSSAA rules. After Beech won the state game, Franklin had to show his ass to the coach and in front of Jalen Hurd. Kreager has it on his twitter if anyone can post here. I'm on mobile.
