Official Jon Gruden Thread XIII

Didn't the Knox media say that starting Monday they were going to be given access to the AD during the coaching search and that it was going to be a first-time unprecedented transparency move?

Because none of that has happened.

Remember recruits were being told 6-10 days earlier this week. That's next week. Then you have issues of TB payment and smooth transition at ESPN. The Vols will not get the big SECCG bump many expected but they may yet get JG.

If the TB payment issue is indeed real, I can promise you the only word you will ever get from Gruden is "thanks, but no thanks" until the wire is received at his bank. That doesn't even take into account any other issues...small, medium or large...that might exist.

You would think Gruden would politely decline if there was truly no interest, a change of heart or a variety of things that remain unresolved. But to hear rumors from local media that have seemingly been in the dark for some time that the deal is dead make no sense to me. I wouldn't think this is how Gruden or the UTAD would want this to end.

There will be no afternoon press conference today for a new football coach at the University of Tennessee, nor was Jon Gruden ever presented with any contract or financial details to become the Volunteers' next football coach. So say sources extremely close to UT's search for Derek Dooley's replacement.

Some half-dozen sources have told VolQuest.com this morning that Gruden both declined an offer to meet with UT officials, most notably vice chancellor and director of athletics Dave Hart, this week and that neither side ever got to a point where a financial framework was outlined.

"We reached out to coach Gruden. Coach Gruden after visiting with his family informed us that it was not a move his family wanted to make at this time. He declined to meet with Tennessee. Financial considerations were never discussed," said a University source Friday morning.

The news comes on the heels of a report in Friday's editions of the Chattanooga Times Free Press that alleged Gruden was mulling over an offer and could decide on his own timeframe, a report labeled "irresponsible" by someone familiar with proceedings.

Makes no sense. I thought his wife wanted to come back to Tennessee? I do belie some people have talked to the family and had good information on this.

And who you gona be hunting for....

Oldvol simply posted that he had recieved a text say 3 and that he hoped it was true...

everyone else took it and ran and said 3pm press conference....was on

JayVols said there was an SEC thing that prohibited a pressor before the SECCG

Slice said still hearing 3 today.... then came back on and said did not look like it

So what is difficult to understand

I was specifically told press conference at 3. I didn't get it from ov.

Don't like the VolQuest article, even though the source is anonymous. I'm in until my guy says otherwise, or until a new coach is named.....but this is troubling to be sure.

Yo BORO, You still 100% for the nov.30(today) announcement that was proclaimed in earlier threads? I hope so Im gasping for air up in dis mutha

I agree with this and I am only going by my annual "please review your donation " phone call I got last night where he point blank said "enjoy the chamionship game and Next year when the coaching decision is made we will be ready to go"

Just don't worry about the media and be patient the coaching decision is the #1 priority of the AD"

I just will be surprised at this point if it happens today ..remember the conference gives out the money to all of the SEC so the focus HAS to be the championship game

The bummer of it all is that ND has no conference and is blessed by Mother Mary (just ask them) and they get to keep the cash from the championship games and for every week being on TV ...what a scam

If no Gruden, then no donations until we start winning big again.
