He still left the possibility of it out there but said multiple sources told him that Gruden wouldn't be coaching on the UT sidelines.

He said the search will center around Fedora, Golden, Fisher and maybe Strong and Gundy.

Well IF this ends tomorrow and ends the way we want it to, what are we gonna do all weekend? Aside from cheering for UGA like never before of course.

Kinda bittersweet if it does happen. Will be awesome but it's occupied/entertained/depressed/jubilated/confused me for so long now it's gonna be strange.

Great. 2 guys I do not want and another that I have a lot of concerns about.

Guys, it won't end tomorrow. If the TFP article is right, then the deal isn't even done yet. They still have to agree on assistants salries and whatever other hangups that could arise. You don't have a press conference before the deal is done. And, it would be bad protocol to upstage the SEC championship game too, IMO.

If it's Fedora or Golden I'm done with life. I like Gundy, but idk if he can succeed here.

According to Hubbs, Gruden wants around 6 million a year...this is half a million more than Saban...my question to those of you who think we should fork this over is how do you know for certain we will get Saban results with Gruden?

This guy was average at best in the NFL except for the year he won the Super Bowl with Dungy's players....he's never been a HC in college...he hasn't coached in college for over 20 years...he hasn't coached at all in 4 years...he has no experience recruiting in today's recruiting environment...how can you be comfortable giving this guy the biggest (by far) contract in college football despite so many glaring red flags?

IMO...this can't be justified...and that's why Hart isn't going for it...there are far more proven college coaches that are interested and won't break the bank to come here...

Give me Strong or Fedora and I'll be ecstatic

Saban was average at best in the NFL, and didn't win a Super Bowl. Gruden's name alone will recruit elite talent to UT until he gets in the groove of recruiting, and I am sure it won't take him long. Also, that is why he wants so much money for his assistants, because he wants to hire an elite staff that can do most of the leg work on the recruiting trail, and then he steps in as the closer. With where our program has been for years, I don't see how anyone can argue against taking a risk with a Super Bowl winning coach that is a rock star to all of these kids that see his face on ESPN every week. It's a no-brainer IMO, and well worth the risk to help us rise from the ashes!! GRUDEN 2012 (and hopefully today)!!!

I have never understood this love affair with Gruden, I think he is a dork. My only wish is that he coaches somewhere so I don't have to listen to him on Monday nights.

Very well put. My concerns as well.

I agree, it is a big risk but if he brings in a great staff to help coach the team with the big draw he would create in recruiting big time recruits will out way the risk. These kids know who he is and there will be some kids that want to play for him. If he hires a great staff to coach the kids I think things can turn around sooner than later.

If he doesn't come in and win immediately I think you will change your tune very quickly looking at that Chucky face on the sidelines. Good luck to the Vols with whoever they pick.

I can't speak for all VOL fans but I don't think ihe is going to come in and light it up his first year but I do think we should see better results by year 2.

Gruden is not worth 6 million...he's not...he's an exciting name (key word name) and our fanbase is so desperate for something to be excited about most are willing to ignore all of the red flags I mentioned and fork over the biggest salary in college football for a guy who has proven nothing at the college level and was average at best in the NFL...

Saban is worth 6 million... He's about to play for his 3rd NC in 4 years...

Meyer is worth 6 million or close to it...he won 2 NCs in 4 years and would be playing for another this year if not for sanctions that he had nothing to do with...

Gruden is not worth 6 million...if you put aside the emotion of the name then it's easy to see

This board has officially flown over the cukoo's nest

You have cats now role playing as Gruden calling recruits, in recruit's threads.

Thunder are you going to be a negagruden if he's hired? I have this weird feeling that a bunch of fans are going to be negagruden's just like how some were negakiffin and negadooley. I just can't wrap my head around being opposed to Jon Gruden coming to UT. Who cares how much he's paid. Thunder, are you paying the extra $500k? We're about to go to go from Dooley to Gruden and I just can't see how that won't make 99.999% of Vol fans happy.
