Hart wants to make the decision and the boosters aren't going to let another AD screw up a football hire again. We're looking in on a civil war right now....I think the boosters win this one.

If it is, I'm siding with the guys footing the bill. If it fails, they paid for it.

Dave Hart isn't an idiot.

I don't know why Hart wouldn't want Gruden if Clay is correct. The fans and boosters want him. Even if Gruden fails it's a win win for him and he keeps his job. He can just play it off like I hired the guy everybody wanted.

just to play devil's advocate, he might not want to be the AD known for costing a university the most money on a failed coaching gig if it doesn't work out. There's no flying under the radar if he hires Gruden.

Exactly, everyone is doing precisely their job it seems to me. Gruden is making important future contacts through this process and this timing is going to rock the NCAA.

Yes it has. But my point is that no AD is just going to lay down and give up everything at the beginning of a negotiation. Institutional control is a huge card to give up.

Doubt this is the case with the names he's bringing, I'm sure he's asking for a big buy out, and I guarantee there's a countered big buyout if that's the case. Also, I read his book, he hates moving around as a coach, he likes staying in 1 place... he literally hates Notre Dame because they let his dad go after the HC was fired and they had to move around.

Thank you. He'd be crazy not to. Now, he may (rightfully) have concerns, perhaps legal concerns to consider. Again, I won't jump to any hasty judgments about Hart until after we have a coach, and certainly won't judge him off the big old rumor mill we have running right now. Holy cow what a mess! Right now a good mess, but a mess indeed!
