I don't think he just wants to win, he wants to be unscored upon. But really, those numbers are unbelievable to me... but then again, as much as the SEC brings in, you'd think since the only people they have on payroll is administration, with players for free(basically), it does seem to be reasonable to have competitive pay.

7.2 mil + 5.1 = 12.3 mil per year x 8 yrs = 98.4 mil

This is ridiculous for a college staff if true.....

If he was interested in anything more than getting attention he would give that info by simply posting it. The drive by post with smiley faces or !!!!!!! Only are clear signs the poster wants nothing but attention.

You still mad because I said nobody likes you?
I'm sorry

That nobody likes you.

I get that you are saying, I do. I am talking more about whether or not he actuallys WANTS the job, and isnt pressured by his wife or other factors. I get wanting to know he can recruit and be successful, I mean I would be hesitant if he was on the fence about wanting to be at UT. We need a coach who wants the job and the challenge. I dont disagree with your post, though

Yea, I get what you are saying. I do think he wants to be here specifically. I just think that when the opportunity to actually do it is laying in front of him, there is bound to be some hesitation. Not about UT, but about college coaching in general.

I have never believed that UT wasn't good enough for Gruden. That is crap.

If Gruden doesn't come to UT, its because he would rather coach in the NFL. No shame in that.

Chris Lowe from ESPN just said no chance Gruden comes. He's been high on the bandwagon since the beginning.

He's very connected in Knoxville, not sure what changed his tone :-(

Here's the question... Does any of them behind the scenes give Gruden a chance of being hired here?

the only one of them that has a source that could be credible is Treece, who has a former GM now analyst, who says Gruden to UT is a strong possibility...

The rest believe UT has spoken to Gruden, but they give it a snowballs chance. But what was wierd is Rucker's boss called the last 20 minutes of the show and he had to leave, and then he wrote the piece about Gruden in the cliff notes thread (his boss wanted the story done then).

That's not what I said.

Seriously ... Give us a sliver of proof. I'm getting my ass kicked in threads because I ask if you have anything while you smugly sit back and say nothing. If you have information, let us in on some of it. If not, stand back and watch with the rest of us while other insiders stick their necks to give us some hope...

This is so untrue....position coaches do a major portion of the recruiting.....You are dead wrong

I know this. This is not what I am arguing. Position coaches are very important in the recruiting process. However, I think that when a kid starts looking at what schools he would like to go to, all he really knows is head coaches. I understand Gruden wants "his guys" but couldn't he still do the job with a few of them, and a few up and comers? Why would Gruden allow this issue to be the reason he turns down UT?

Good night y'all!

I'm still Gruden.

It looks like typical negotiations in any mega deal...it really does. It takes time!!

The latest salary package rumor is over $12m/yr. That's NFLish.

I've been looking over numbers in college and NFL, and a lot of it doesn't make sense... colleges like Alabama bring in 150 million+ a year in revenue, but only profit a few million, then teams like the Browns have 250 million a year in revenue and profit, even while paying their players, which the NCAA doesn't do... trying to figure out each teams yearly expense breakdowns.

If not Gruden, only names out there that would make a splash with recruits is Fisher and Strong. Outside of those two, no one else has a name big enough to get the kids we need on this roster.

I will take gundy in that second group.

To me Strong and Gundy, if that's where we are and I hope we aren't, I'm calling Petrino. I didn't think I'd ever stoop so low...I'd want to know who the DC would be, but I'm not goofin around with two maybe's when I can get a proven SEC HC that won a lot of games in the toughest division in football. I know he's not a great recruiter, but I'm not sold the other two would be appreciably better.
