Official Jon Gruden Thread XII

If you were here early on, you know what I posted. I have never attempted to convince anyone or sway opinion. I don't really care what you think if whether you chill out or not.

If the information I've brought ends up being wrong, and we end up hiring another coach Ill be here. At that time you'll be free to flame and gloat. I stopped my day to post because people were calling for the OG's to address the latest rumor. Nothing has changed from my source. I have nothing to post.

So you knew nothing of this meeting or you did know about it, this is an unexpected turn of events or this never was a scheduled even, just something. You can say all you want that you don't try an sway opinion or convince anyone but you know for a fact you have an impact on this board. If you come out and say that your 100% its done then you should have some more information... IMHO. Hell I would love to get Gruden and was always reserved. Had absolutely NO reason to beleive he was coming besides what the "OG's" where saying. Not gonna lie I got a little caught up in the excitement. But, if you all are trolling and call yourself fans and this is all BS you all are doing serious damange to our fan base and that is fact. I would love for you all to not be trolling but you all started this frenzy!

To what end? If Gruden is going to be hired either way, Hart's reputation is not ultimately at stake. In other words, what does it do for him to be seen as the savior who swoops in at the last minute, or the logical calculating business man who got exactly what he wanted from the beginning?

I don't understand this logic, and I have heard it used more than once.

You do not understand "the logic" because there is not one shred of it to be found.

This was copied from Twitter....

@JimmyHyams and that the ATL office drove a brand new Cadillac in for the reservation. Not a lie

chris kilby ‏@chrsklby
@JimmyHyams I tweeted earlier that a friend works at hertz at airport and a caddillac is reserved for a J Gruden today at 4:30.
Details

Jimmy Hyams reports that a meeting was scheduled today with Jon Gruden and was canceled. Not sure if it will be rescheduled.

This was my twitter and yes this morning a friend text me about a hertz reservation at 4:30 for a J. Gruden. This friend does not keep up w football and not a huge fan like us. He works at Hertz rental at the airport. He also said the ATL office brought up a brand new caddillac for this reservation. Then obviously Hyams reported on this meeting today so it lead me to believe this reservation was legit.
IMO I believe the meeting will still take place

Fixin to get a coach that only a hand full is going to like, hate it?.. but that is the way it is. I would protest the university for not acting sooner, THEY knew DOOLEY was not the answer after losing how many games?. WHO is the best coach left that you want that can recruit and win with what he has?

Hey Carter. Are you saying that Hart was supposed to be meeting with Gruden today?

And did that meeting occur? or do you know whether the meeting actually took place?

Thanks.

I heard yesterday that Hart was flying out today or tomorrow to finalize things and come back for a Friday announcement. Obviously this is what they are talking about. I do not know much more than that, obviously I was as surprised by the reports as anyone here. Trying my best to find out but have had no luck yet.

Like I said my questions are

Why was it cancelled?

Is it cancelled indefinitely or simply "rescheduled"?

Was this meeting just deemed unnecessary because things got worked out without having to meet?

Meetings get cancelled and rescheduled all the time. I am trying to not read too much into it given the lack of corroboration and literally not a peep from the AD.

I still stand by the reasoning that Hart is not stupid. He knows the fanbase is salivating for Gruden. He knows any other name will be a turd in the punchbowl. The only way to have this NOT happen would be for Hart himself to address this and announce something definitive. Until THAT HAPPENS I will believe it is more than likely that Gruden is the Vols next HC. Now will I still be at 80% plus into next week? No. But nothing can make me drop under 50-50 short of a University or Jon Gruden announcement specifically stating he is NOT a candidate for the job.

This could be a hiccup, a non story, false, true, we do not know. Try to not let the sky hit you guys in the head.

Still trying to maintain but if CHUCKY strings us along then turns us down and we lose out spending all out time on him I will be smokin.

Hart is in a bad spot now! Reports like Hyams just threw out, true or not can alter perception.

I believe the OGs. I am hanging my hopes on them right now.

Think about it.. AD and local media have been quiet till today after Grudenmania hit the fan. It's obviously a smokescreen.

LWS saying Hart had planned on going today, but Gruden declined even if Hart did come down. Not sounding good.

This makes no sense. No one goes and 'cold calls' a coaching candidate. By the time there's a face-to-face meeting there's interest on both sides. Hart wouldn't go unless there was assurance the two could meet and Gruden wouldn't cancel without letting Hart know why.

Take a step back - none of this adds up.

Amen brother. I've never seen any proof that he is reliable. All he ever says is "his sources confirm it" Not knocking the guy but I think he got people's hopes really high for nothing.

You stated yourself just this afternoon that you didnt have the time to go back and read the previous threads...that leaves you with no hand in this debate.

You do not understand "the logic" because there is not one shred of it to be found.

That is what has concerned me from the beginning of this. Not the possibility that Gruden could come here, would be interested, but all of the logic behind the goings on.

I live in southwest FL and a lot of my workers are Miami fans, so when I brought up the possibility of Golden talking to TN, they laughed. "He's not going anywhere, he loves it at Miami and he's gonna bring us back". Now, I want Gruden as much as anyone, but for fans of a team that has been average the last two years under Golden, they really seem to like him.

I think the events of today could be a smokescreen. Could.

But I have no faith in Hart being so clever.

The leak was either Hart trying to let the fanbase down the coward's way (I agree with GBOVs, if I were an Arky fan, I would not be unhappy with the AD at this stage), or

Or Gruden is running EVERYTHING about this process.

And I can certainly live with the latter.

I think this is what it is. He could not address it with the media so he leaks out a cancelled meeting to let public know it is not happening. How else would it get out there has not been one single leak until now.

I think a big thank you/shout out is in order for the OG's. They keep coming in here and updating and posting info all the while, the haters be hatin. If they weren't confident in the info they've been giving, I doubt they'd stick around for the abuse.
