Official Jon Gruden Thread XII

Guys calm down. The reason the meeting was canceled is because Hart met with Gruden last night. When are you guys going to learn not to let Hyams get you worked up?

Is it possbile that everything the OGS said was true and everything was in place, and Gruden got cold feet at the eleventh hour and backed away?

VN is in total meltdown and it is all because of Hyams. Hilarious.

Remember when we were mad that no one was reporting anything about Gruden? And that media steam would start to pick up leading up to Friday? Now we get media steam picking up -- now admitting we are going after him -- and everyone loses it.

Fact: Hart fired Dooley before Kentucky game. If we didn't have our guy, why not trot him out against KY while you continue your search? Yea fans would be mad, but it doesn't really matter because you're not going to a bowl either way.

Fact: We have $18 million back from no longer donating to University. This mysteriously happens a few days after firing Dooley. Do you need $18 million to hire anyone else?

Fact: Neither UT nor Gruden have officially squashed the rumor. One of the two had the perfect opportunity to do so. The other one either has the worst PR department in the entire NCAA by not squashing it, or knows something is up and has been told not to talk.

Fact: Hart has been spotted at sporting events like Lady Vols Soccer, Men's Basketball, etc... instead of doing his most important job, the hire that drives the Athletic Department? Illogical.

Fact: Hyams has been a day late and a dollar short several times. See: Kiffin hire.

Fact: Hyams works for the radio station most closely associated with UT.

Fact: We have (publicly) been on the coaching search for well over a week. We're just now interviewing? Illogical.

Fact: Saban and Meyer both denied involvement with their universities 4 days before accepting.

Fact: Nothing has leaked from AD this entire time. First leak is a negative to get off back of Gruden. Why would you leak that? Illogical unless to get pressure off Gruden, set up Hart as the AD who "rescued" the deal.

Fact: Gruden has been waiting to get every last penny from Tampa Bay firing. Unknown when that last check hits, but could be reason to make a delay happen.

Fact: Ownership changes in NFL require NFL Owner's approval. No one offered anyone a $100 million stake in the Browns. Gruden can easily deny this, but note how quickly he moved on.

Smoke, all of it.

No inside info, just my two cents.

Go away with all of that sense makin'! We can thave that here.

I normally don't divulge much into reading the tea leaves but here is my honest attempt. This is only my opinion and its purely speculative. ESPN wants Gruden to stay on MNF. He wants to look at the options. ESPN is informed of the meeting today and they question Gruden on the air. This backs him in a corner and he cancels the meeting today to deflect attention. Only thing I know for certain is that I hope he reschedules.

This actually makes a ****load of sense.

I totally agree. Possibly Tressel or Petrino if we don't get Gruden. But none of this Fisher, Golden, Strong, etc....

Oh God! I spent 8 years living in Ohio and hating that damn sweater vest wearing idiot and the moronic Ohio State trolls that followed him. If that bastard follows me back to Tennessee and is hired at UT I will blow a gasket!!!!!

Tennessee will be in town to speak to Al Golden on Thursday according to reports..and BC wants to raise there salary to $2m to entice Al

"No matter what you say"

Last time I'll say it, Golden would be a home run, imo. For the same reason that Sumlin was for A&M

Keep telling yourself that . Golden cant carry Sumlins jock. If Tn hires Golden then Ky got a better coach than Tn. Also you will find out how many people agree with you when your 1 of 10k setting in Neyland next fall.

Remember when Saban was with Miami and how Cowherd went on for days about how Saban would never want to go to Alabama. It was all over ESPN and their radio shows. Other than a brief statement on Mike and Mike this morning has there been any discussion at all on anything ESPN affiliated? Don't you think a huge name like Gruden would be getting discussed much more than it is? Is it because ESPN wants to keep it quiet? Gruden wants to keep it quiet? Grudens name comes up with coaching searches so often they just ignore it now?

Nope.

Funny how nothing was being reported at all out of the AD even going so far to say they will have no comment about anything. But, now all of a sudden a meeting that was never reported to be happening is cancelled. Believe what you want.

So you are saying that Brent Hubbs is lying? Not a call out, just a question.

If you were here early on, you know what I posted. I have never attempted to convince anyone or sway opinion. I don't really care what you think if whether you chill out or not.

If the information I've brought ends up being wrong, and we end up hiring another coach Ill be here. At that time you'll be free to flame and gloat. I stopped my day to post because people were calling for the OG's to address the latest rumor. Nothing has changed from my source. I have nothing to post.

I don't post much but I just wanted to say that I'm glad your posting what you do and that if they turn out to be wrong you'll be man enough to take your lumps. These guys attacking you can get on here and say what they want because they have nothing else to do and seems like they like to argue. If you guys don't believe him and don't think he is right, you don't have to post and you don't have to be in this thread. If your just out looking for an ecred fight I'm sure there is other places to go get it. You'll never win any ecred fight anyways since your not bringing nothing to the table. So believe or don't but just let the people that want to be here read what the OGs are saying and ya'll go on to the other threads and build your post count. That's all.

Go Vols!!!

I think the events of today could be a smokescreen. Could.

But I have no faith in Hart being so clever.

The leak was either Hart trying to let the fanbase down the coward's way (I agree with GBOVs, if I were an Arky fan, I would not be unhappy with the AD at this stage), or

Or Gruden is running EVERYTHING about this process.

And I can certainly live with the latter.

LWS saying Hart had planned on going today, but Gruden declined even if Hart did come down. Not sounding good.

Besides saying Gruden is coming, Boro has also said slow your roll and chill the F out! Badgering the guy constantly isn't going to speed things up. Patients is your friend in times like this.

nobody wants to read your speculation. We only want to read REAL rumors :)

To what end? If Gruden is going to be hired either way, Hart's reputation is not ultimately at stake. In other words, what does it do for him to be seen as the savior who swoops in at the last minute, or the logical calculating business man who got exactly what he wanted from the beginning?

I don't understand this logic, and I have heard it used more than once.

Weird times. I believe the AD leaked that info to Hyams and Hubbs for a purpose but what is that purpose? Seems to be to buy more time for Gruden to me. Of course I have my biases and may be reading what I want into it. If it is to "let the fanbase down that this isn't happening" seems a strange way to go about it. It would make Hart and the University look bad. Like we aren't even worthy of a meeting.

Here's another tidbit...Does everyone actually think a deal that has been in the work for weeks if not months all of a sudden dies in a few hours. I don't think so. Many people have been involved with this and have many hours invested on both sides for it simply to disolve in such a short amount of time.
