Official Jon Gruden Thread XII

Let look at what we do know.. Dooley Fired ..with a 5 million dollar buyout. A deal that has been in the works for months.. All so we can hire Golden or Fedora..smells fishy to me.. Hart sweeps in 11th hour to save a deal that was never in danger, my 2 cents

To what end? If Gruden is going to be hired either way, Hart's reputation is not ultimately at stake. In other words, what does it do for him to be seen as the savior who swoops in at the last minute, or the logical calculating business man who got exactly what he wanted from the beginning?

I don't understand this logic, and I have heard it used more than once.

VN is in total meltdown and it is all because of Hyams. Hilarious.

Remember when we were mad that no one was reporting anything about Gruden? And that media steam would start to pick up leading up to Friday? Now we get media steam picking up -- now admitting we are going after him -- and everyone loses it.

Fact: Hart fired Dooley before Kentucky game. If we didn't have our guy, why not trot him out against KY while you continue your search? Yea fans would be mad, but it doesn't really matter because you're not going to a bowl either way.

Fact: We have $18 million back from no longer donating to University. This mysteriously happens a few days after firing Dooley. Do you need $18 million to hire anyone else?

Fact: Neither UT nor Gruden have officially squashed the rumor. One of the two had the perfect opportunity to do so. The other one either has the worst PR department in the entire NCAA by not squashing it, or knows something is up and has been told not to talk.

Fact: Hart has been spotted at sporting events like Lady Vols Soccer, Men's Basketball, etc... instead of doing his most important job, the hire that drives the Athletic Department? Illogical.

Fact: Hyams has been a day late and a dollar short several times. See: Kiffin hire.

Fact: Hyams works for the radio station most closely associated with UT.

Fact: We have (publicly) been on the coaching search for well over a week. We're just now interviewing? Illogical.

Fact: Saban and Meyer both denied involvement with their universities 4 days before accepting.

Fact: Nothing has leaked from AD this entire time. First leak is a negative to get off back of Gruden. Why would you leak that? Illogical unless to get pressure off Gruden, set up Hart as the AD who "rescued" the deal.

Fact: Gruden has been waiting to get every last penny from Tampa Bay firing. Unknown when that last check hits, but could be reason to make a delay happen.

Fact: Ownership changes in NFL require NFL Owner's approval. No one offered anyone a $100 million stake in the Browns. Gruden can easily deny this, but note how quickly he moved on.

Smoke, all of it.

No inside info, just my two cents.

Logical, and a very good 2 cents. I agree 100%.

This is the third football coaching search, toss in the basketball and baseball searches, five searches in four years. It's always the same, tons of speculation with the local media getting played by the AD.

Hyams' report today changes nothing, it happens everytime. The only difference is the names.

Generally we don't find out who wanted the job or who declined the job. Generally, the fan base is standing there with a "who the !%#@" look on our collective faces once the hire has been made.

Fortunately, Hart can't do that this time, there's too much at stake, he knows it, the boosters know it, and the fans know it.

It's Gruden or complete disappointment.

Pure speculation on my part, but who's to say meeting was cancelled because no other details to be worked out and Hart and Gruden want it spun as a negative for a few more days?

Interesting thought. Just speculating myself, but who says this search is even being conducted from the AD or Knoxville? Why does Dave Hart have to have ANYTHING to do with any of this until the absolute final announcement? I know this sounds silly, but maybe the entire AD, including Hart, is the smokescreen, except for the fact that he has to do his due diligence to satisfy HR requirements. The Governor is the Chairman of the UT BOT. Seems to me if the major boosters were taking the lead on this thing, they would run things through the Governor's office instead of the UTAD, which would in effect render the entire Knoxville market useless in terms of media.

Here is the thing. All you have ever said is that its Gruden 100% give some reasons why. You can't just expect to have everyone come up to you on their knee's and think everything you say is the gospel without giving any reason. Especially now when everything you say is being challenged. See reputable people are telling things that are happening not just saying "just wait" and you expect everyone to just chill out cause you said "Chill out people, its gonna happen"

I don't know Boro, have only been here since Gruden IX, and really don't know what to believe. But I do know this - everything Boro has suggested to us since I've been following has played out eerily consistent with what Boro predicted. Attacking Boro to try to get more details won't get you anywhere. I suspect Boro is saying all Boro can say without getting completely cut-off by his sources.

If you've ever played this game, you know that sources cut you off for three reasons. One - you get them in trouble. Two - you don't handle the information they give you appropriately. Or Three - you bother them too much by coming back too often for information.

Boro knows what Boro is doing and Boro is giving us what Boro can. So quit badgering Boro and be glad we have what we have. :banghead2:

Got to admit the OG's are sitting on a oven and sweating icewater, I'm all in with them. I have followed UT a long time the knoxville press is having a hard time things are getting crazy if anybody has followed the OG's from the beggining they have been pretty correct down the line so far. I believe they are giving out info as they are getting it, I cannot fathom hart or UT letting this frenzy get to this point without fully well knowing who they got. Gruden has alot of things to negotiate out and I believe ity is all on his timeline. I have faith that Hart and UT are going to get this right from a PR and a university standpoint the crossroads are upon us. GO VOLS GET IT DONE!! GET GRUDEN!!!

So Jay, is this your good news?

Nope.

Funny how nothing was being reported at all out of the AD even going so far to say they will have no comment about anything. But, now all of a sudden a meeting that was never reported to be happening is cancelled. Believe what you want.

If it was a done deal it would be announced already. Let him hit the recruiting trail. If he wanted the job I don't think he would delay his work to get another check from TB.

If you were here early on, you know what I posted. I have never attempted to convince anyone or sway opinion. I don't really care what you think if whether you chill out or not.

If the information I've brought ends up being wrong, and we end up hiring another coach Ill be here. At that time you'll be free to flame and gloat. I stopped my day to post because people were calling for the OG's to address the latest rumor. Nothing has changed from my source. I have nothing to post.

Good enough for me.....BOOM!!! BTW, if you would have paid attention to what Boro and the OGs said over the course of 12 THREADS (crazy, I know), then you would realize that everything is happening exactly as they said it would...lends itself to being credible to me.
