Cowherd called us the 9th best job in the country today.

Money
Stadium
Fans
Borders states with loads of talent
Has to compete with Vandy (and laughed)

He said
Alabama
USC
Notre Dame
Ohio St
Michigan
Texas
Florida
LSU
Georgia

In no particular order...

And Tennessee was #9/10 and depending on the year, #9 ahead of Georgia.

Quick... somebody tell FADEROUTE!

Dumb. Not what he said at all.

Actually if you read the qualifiers in the first sentence, it is exactly what was said.

By my reading, he said he hasn't received an offer that includes ownership in the browns.

That can be taken to say that he hasn't received an offer from UT or that he hasn't received an offer from UT that has Browns ownership involved.

Erin Andrews said she hasn't heard anything about Gruden to UT and that was late yesterday afternoon when she was on with the 104.5 crew. Not saying Boro is wrong, just stating what she said.

Boro didn't specifically say Andrews

Here is something interesting:

Either we have the biggest AD in all of sports, or someone in the AD knows everyone on VN.

So many "stories" of people saying they know people in the AD. So, either we have like 5,000 employees in the AD, or the same guy can't keep his mouth shut and has 5,000 VN friends....

GRUDEN!!!!!

SOON!!!

(However, I really do have a friend in the AD.)

I don't know why people think Gruden's intensity will be an issue. Kids will respond as long as they think he's genuine and he gives a crap about them.

It works for some people.

Did I miss something? I didnt see where Gruden denied the job offer or anything to do with Tennessee on mike and mike, just denied that an offer included the Cleveland Browns.

I actually think that was a very positive statement in that he didnt decline anything with possibly HC the vols!

I agree. His tone was even more telling that this may be legit.

FW2, we know he has coached his sons HS team for atleast a year. Videos show that he worked with the "kids" pretty well.

On a Late Show appearance from 2010 he was talking about being the assistant line coach on his son's HS football team and really appeared to be excited about it. j/s

I just posted this in the other thread, Ill share it here as well.

It is 100% OFFICIAL! JON GRUDEN WILL be running through the T in 2013!!! I cant tell you my sources due to their high rank at UT, but just trust me! The Press Conference will be TODAY around 2:00 PM!

.......people posting this, do you see how STUPID you look now?

That was exactly what i was thinking when I read his post....:hi:

This place is so full of miss information... makes one wonder how many in the AD office are posting in here to try to spead the smoke?

Wow, that is VERY surprising. Can't say I disagree with his list except for Michigan.

Why do you say that about Michigan? Most posters on here seem to think UT can get any coach they wanted because of their history and being a top 10 all-time program. Well, isn't Michigan the #1 team regarding wins? Going by the logic on this board, Michigan is the best job in college football.

None of us know if Grudes will be able to coach effectively at the college level. The main reason he is such a huge hire is RECRUITING. He will bring in HUGE classes. The rest will take care of itself.

Mike Greenberg's question to Gruden on Mike & Mike this morning was as follows:

Greenie: News Channel 3 has learned that you, Jon Gruden, have a contract offer in hand from the University of Tennessee, and that a decision could be made as early as today. Part of this apparently is that you would get a piece of the Cleveland Browns, who were recently bought by Jim Haslam, who is a huge Tennessee booster, because he played at Tennessee, and he is the father of Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam. So, first and foremost, Jon, is this..is there any truth to this whatsoever?

Gruden: "Uh no there isn't." Because:
1. I'm not holding the contract in my hand
2. The final decision is pending a few details that will not be resolved by today
3. I am not getting a piece of the Browns.
4. The Browns were not bought by Jim Haslam
5. The owner of the Browns, Jimmy Haslam, Jr. never played football at Tennessee
6. The owner of the Browns, Jimmy Haslam, Jr. is not the father of Bill Haslam, Tennessee's Governor.

"So, no Greenie, there is no truth to that whatsoever."

I hate to quote myself, but the above explains the reality of the question that was asked. I believe it was intentionally filled with erroneous information so that Gruden could honestly deny the truthfulness of the rumor as stated in order to buy some additional time.

Knowing how to manage is one thing but having their respect is another.

It was clear these last 3 seasons that Dooley go ZERO respect from his players. Grden will have that from Day 1 once those kids see that superbowl ring.

Saban is a prime example - I don't think they cherish the relationship - they RESPECT the accomlishments.

Yea. Many players do not like Saban, but they play hard for him.

I'm sure that age, as well as some time away from the pressures of being a pro HC, have mellowed him a little bit too.

Lets not forget that coming off a letdown firing, that time, insight, self discovery (FFCA), and a chance at redemption doing what he loves are very powerful motivators...

In the NFL you are simply a manager of a team, that has its organization well entrenched...

IN College ball, especially at UT, the opportunity to build and have a legacy is EVERYWHERE (take that Dools)...

Anybody thats the least bit competitive wants to build a legacy...at least I know I would want to...
