seems like the news is starting to pick up. I do find it odd that ESPN hasn't run a story on anything really involving Gruden and UT yet. hmmmm....

That because UT has a foot up their azz.. You think ESPN hates us now? Just wait till we take Gruden away lol.

I heard a tastly little rumor yesterday about Saban..........

I had read on this board that Saban may be going to the Browns, a former player told me yesterday that if Bama wins anothe NC to look for Saban to go to the Browns (he does not get on the boards and knows nothing about the rumor here)

Kinda what I was wondering too. Are there other college coaches that are part owners of pro teams?

Provided there isn't an issue legally, can you imagine what that would do for recruiting? Wow!

Someone posted earlier that Summit owned part of a WNBA team

If I was a recruit, I'd definately want to go to a college where the coach actually owns a portion of an NFL team. I'm actally surprised if that wouldn't violate some kind of NCAA rule. I know I wouldn't like it if USC purchased an NFL team.

I get excited about him as well but what do we do when he comes for three years and leaves for the NFL?

Hiring him is a risk IMO

Exactly what is the risk ? Tell me because I don't see it. He comes in here for three years and stocks this program with talent that we haven't seen in well over a decade and then if he does leave, we will be in great shape for the next coach. Much like Fla has done twice. One time when SS left and again when IM left. Also Ohio State did the same thing. He will bring us back and then if he leaves we will be stocked with players competing at the highest level and it would be a great place for everyone. Do what exactly is the risk?

That means if Gruden comes here and does get some ownership of the Browns, he would be Sabans boss. Snikering

I'm not doubting you, but I would be a little surprised that a major news outlet would get to the point of reporting this without at least tempering it with the suggestion that it may be a violation. I mean, are you certain? I know any goodies, much smaller ones, are violations if trying to lure a player, but how similar are the rules in luring a coach? I wonder if there's any precedent for something like this.
I am sure that Harts lawyers are going over all the legalities. I just hope Dooley isn't his lawyer or at least he is a much better lawyer than coach
