Official Jon Gruden Thread XI

I live in South Carolina also and it's hilarious listening to their fans.....I had one tell me last night at work that Gruden is not coming to TN bc he is great friends with Spurrier and is waiting for him to retire so that he can take over at USC....and he was serious as a heart attack....how I kept a straight face without just busting out laughing is beyond me....

I've been betting heavy on Gruden on Friday...none of my non UT fans believe me...

What these Grumers do to the public-I was talking to a guy that I didn't know today and noticed he had on a UT sweater, so I of course asked "So you think we get Gruden?". He responded "Yep, he wasn't on MNF and John Clayton's reporting it", to which I said "Naw, he was on MNF bro. I know because everyone was analyzing every word he said. Then he said "well, he coached three years under Fulmer and right after Fulmer was fired, he bought a house in the mountains. I have a friend that lives out there that said they've been remodeling it for two weeks now, and another friend said a guy told him that he has an aunt that works for UT and said she's seen paperwork where the University has ordered him a custom Lexus.". Anyone else have a similar experience?

alright fellow orange blooded friends. I have never posted before and i had never even read a message board until last week. I bleed orange just like you guys. As a matter of fact i am the fella that won the wivk contest for the free trip to the fiesta bowl in '98. Don't care if you know me or not. But i love a good mystery story and next to the show lost, this is the best story i have ever read. You guys are absolutely entertaining!!

So after reading every post on here and using my twitter account and listening to as little radio as possible these are the observations that i have. Enjoy.
1)this is tennessee. We have one of the greatest programs in college football history. Period. Anything less than players that give it their all every day and pour every drop of their blood and soul onto that field is unacceptable. It crushes me to my very core to see the product that has been on the field for the past few years.
2) the og's on this thread are interesting and probably have very accurate information.
3) vfl1 is the best poster on this entire thread. Everyone should go back and read his posts at least 2-3 times because he has laid it out plainly for us all. I also find it interesting that (ok i listen to ainge cause he actually played) vfl1 could very well be ainge! Their choices of words are almost identical.
4) the other night boro indicated that ainge new and some of the players know. It is very interesting that if you follow several of these guys on twitter the context of their twitter posts changed at nearly the same time that boro made his statement. Many of the players have stopped tweeting period and ainge pretty much only tweets about his clark griswold thanksgiving and christmas tree cutting experiences! Isn't this odd that somebody that has been so involved with the gruden talk suddenly stops and focuses on "it's a beaut clark!". Yet, he still likes to retweet about gruden talk every few hours even though his last real mention of gruden was thanksgiving morning (read the post).
5)hart. Ok he has an ego, right. Don't all of us. Don't we all secretly wish we could be heroes?!! Do you think a 60 some year old man's path to being a hero is al golden. Nope. Heroes get it done when its 4th down on the goal line and then punch it in the endzone! Heroes live forever. The rest of us do not (see general neyland). Heroes come through when the hours are darkest. That is what makes them great! All of you questioning hart's motives need to stop. No way that man doesn't want to be great!
6) the great dr. Jerry punch. I have watched that man since i was a child sitting in front of the tv watching racing with my father back in the 80s. He is an icon and has to be the most honest caring man i have ever heard in the media. Athletes love him and confide in him because he is above the rest. He is a pure love of the game kinda guy and we are so blessed that he has decided to make our community a home. He laid it on the line yesterday on the radio. Go to josh ward's twitter page and listen to it over and over again. It's as sweet as hearing rocky top playing on a cool fall morning. He has set the table for us all to believe that greatness is around the corner. Do i have too much faith in a man i have never met. Maybe. But until he proves me wrong, i am all in.
7) last one and thanks for reading all of this. This has been fun. Peyton manning loves the university of tennessee!! The day he stood at that podium was his hero moment. This time right now may be an even bigger moment for him. The amazing thing is none of us will ever know the real role he played in this. For, the greatest heroes are the one's that perform miracles on this earth and never take any credit for it!

God bless the big orange and go vols!

amen!! God bless the vol nation

Here's my guess. Friday we get a release(just like kentucky today) stating gruden will be named officially next Tuesday. That allows gruden to continue his MNF duties and I also guess he will finish the year doing MNF.

I would go with that all day long.

Some things are starting to leak to the people I'm closest to at KNS and WBIR.

Something (ahem) tells me the AD senses panic with fans with the UK hire and Petrino to Auburn and Peterson to Arkansas stuff floating around out there.

I'm confident this thing will break open in the next day or so continuing with the Friday timeline.

Details, details.

You mean outside of VN????? lol

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but from espn insider..

Tennessee candidates:

Jon Gruden, former NFL coach: He remains in the fans' crosshairs. Again, it begs the question: Who's to say he would be a good college coach? It still seems more logical to me that he'd stay at ESPN or go to the NFL, but don't tell that to bloggers and fans anywhere near Rocky Top.

Doesn't mean much, just another opinion. Friday!

I am rooting for Golden at this point just to see the apocalyptic nuclear meltdown that will commence on VN when he is announced as the next HC.

Can't wait my man....then on Sunday's he can go to his 2nd job and sell you a brand new Ford F-150 at Ted Russell Ford on Kingston Pike :eek:lol:

Probably should have left the address off that...JG will receive thousands of letters from begging Vols fans by Monday.

Agreed. Thats edging into stalker territory.

Mods ... Can we get that post deleted? Including all references/replies to it?
