This. They don't outsource them, but they also don't print them in the ADs office.

From what we heard last night it sounds like they're already recruiting with Gruden's name. Who knows for sure though.

Where is Boro when we need him? :) I am sure he hasn't heard for sure yet of an announcement date since he hasn't posted it yet.

To follow up the poster said this, "Posted some things on here over three weeks ago about Gruden had been contacted and was very interested. As usual got blasted... He was called up and said if the pay him what he is making now and a few other things he was in and wanted the job. I heard it was a done deal three weeks ago. I honestly dont know but this came from as close from the horses mouth. Now they wont talk..... Time will tell. There is just too much smoke."

A hire like Gruden at UT would be the talk for weeks. I dont think it really matters if we announce now, Friday, or a hour before the kickoff. They media will blow it out if it did indeed happen. I dont see why we would wait till Friday if we indeed already had Gruden.

If its me, I try to maximize what I get out of it.

Sure, it will come up a lot until next season (but after a few weeks mainly only in the more dedicated CFB outlets), but again, if it were me, I'd try to maximize the initial exposure of the story by releasing it Thursday/Friday before the SECCG.

The way the news cycle seems to work nowadays, anything released Monday/Tuesday is lukewarm by the end of the week.

I tend to agree. If it was a run of the mill hire, we would likely already have the presser done and forgotten about.


ETA***

One thing is for sure, we arent waiting to make an announcement that wont even blip the radar with all that media activity...this announcement is intended to blow the other media targets off the screen.
